Great Wood splitter, horrible customer service
This woods splitter is fantastic! Like many have said there is so much power with the 35 ton splitting ram that you only need to run the engine at half power for most, but the hardest wood. The assembly was easy enough and could have been easily completed by one person if a little more care was taken in the manufacturing process. I had to release the splitting wedge from the ram in order to get the play that I needed to get the bolt holes to line up and complete assembly, and then only with a second pair of hands from my wife. When I finally got to putting the support leg in place the split pins were missing from the assembly parts. I have tried to call the support number several times to get this sorted and even left an email via their website with no response....... So like I said, this is an awesome splitter that I would recommend to anyone, but hopefully you won't need to contact customer support, because that stinks. I will be happy to amend this review if Yardmax customer support reaches out to correct the missing parts.

Lots of Power for the $$$$ !
I ordered this machine from Amazon after several months of shopping and research. $1499 is by far the best price I found for a machine with 35 tons of force. It arrived several weeks earlier than was expected via CEVA freight. The delivery went smooth with CEVA putting the crate in my shop. The machine is crated and protectected very well from shipping damage and is still simple enough to uncrate in just a few minutes. Assembly was pretty straight forward. Yardmax has a video on Youtube that shows step by step the assembly process and I reccomend watching this a couple of times as it makes the instructions easier to follow. One problem I ran into was the pre-drilled holes in the woodstripper were off by 1/16" so it needed tweaking a little. After reading other reviews I didn't bother with the kickstand that comes with it, ( it sucks ) but instead mounted a wheeled trailer jack which gives much more control for moving and is a back saver. I used a tractor to lift the machine and add the axle and wheels as the instructions for doing this seemed unsafe IMO. Overall the assembly is easy and it does come with all the oils you need which is more than most other brands offer. The Briggs motor started easily and runs smoothly. As far as power goes, this splitter doesnt hesitate at all, even in big knots. I like the steel gas tank because of the strength but its not the best thing if your going to store your splitter with an empty gas tank because of rust issues. Keep the splitter level as much as possible or hydraulic oil will leak from the vent. The log racks that come with it are ample but I may add the 24" table thats available in the future. Standing the splitter vertical takes a little effort but is not too difficult. I feel like the added trailer jack helps with the stability in doing this. Be sure and mount the jack on the same side as the engine as this helps balance the machine better.

Works as advertised.
When I bought this splitter I wasn't sure if it was going to be too big for the job I have. Turns out its the perfect size. Its a beast to wrestle but it has the power I need for the work intended.Because of the weight of the splitter I installed a low cost trailer jack that allows me to move the splitter much more easily. A bit of a learning curve to start but starts every time.Assembly time - plan on 1 1/2 - 2 hours and 2 people.

Buyer beware
I ran 10 rounds through, hydraulic fluid spewed out the breather hole then started leaking from the tank. Yard max customer service is dragging its feet on sending some sort of replacement part called a tank weldment. I’m at a loss on where to go from here. I cannot afford another one and need the to split wood to heat my home.Update: nearly 60 days into this ordeal and still no help from yardmax. My only hope is a credit card dispute.Second update: I would caution you not to purchase Yardmax as they have non-existent customer service, if you do decide to purchase I would caution you to buy from an actual retailer rather than Amazon, as they seem unwilling to back up the defective products they sell.

This splitter is extremely well made. Even the box it was packed in was made very well. The assembly instructions were a bit confusing but not bad overall. I might argue as to it being a one person assembly job but I guess it depends on how strong you are. I have not used the splitter enough yet to comment on how well it functions. But is seems like it will certainly do the trick. I do agree with other comments I have seen that it is too bad the support leg is not an adjustable crank down type as opposed to the drop leg. It takes two people to do this process. One strong person to lift the trailer tongue and another to put the support leg up or down.

Excellent splitter. Until the wedge screws shared off. No product support.
The splitter works great. I have 3 year old logs as well as newer ones, maple, Chinese tallow, and eucalyptus. The first big round I split shattered into 6 pieces luckily I followed the instructions and stood behind the ram. The other logs and stumps split just fine. Yardmax seems to have given this product a lot of thought regarding the end user, from putting it together, splitting logs and storing it after use. Amazon shipped it by freight carrier they used CEVA Logistics. Ceva has a thing called threshold delivery where they put it in your garage or shop for assembly. The ceva guys did a great job. I called yardmax to ask a question about the hydraulic oil, i person at yardmax answered the phone after about 3 rings. No voicemail tree, that was awesome. Picture of optional cover.***UPDATE***Wedge screws shared off , tried many times to connect yardmax support, stuck on hold then told to leave a recording. I called back later in the week, they took my order. I received an email from customer support and they are "very short staffed" after two weeks my order shipped via ups.I will keep the review up dated.
