Great for begginers/back up controller!
Have had it for around 6 months and the controller works geat, haven't had any issues with it, sound quality fron the sound card is more powerfull then I expected, works perfect for home/small events due to it's portability and easy set up, also really good as a starter and back up controller due to the layout which is pretty much the basic from all club set ups so if you learn to use it you are ready to jump on any CDJ's thanks to the standarized format. If I had to give it's pros and cons: Pros: Easy to set up Really portable Easy to learn on Cheap Full Rekordbox Lisence Cons: Mixer is tight and knobs small so you will need practice to adapt Can't disable scratch mode so carefull touching the wheels Software does lag sometimes because it's still pretty new To use on bigger gigs sound card might not be enough Overall: It's a great begginer/back up controller due to it's portability and standarzed layout, even thought some might say knobs and faders feel cheap it is a really affordable controller so knobs and fader work really well for the price point this contriller is at, sound card works great for home build or small events (tried it on a 1000 people event and was impressed with the volume and sound, so don't uderestimate it either) so this makes the controller a great option to jump in, specially if you want to jump in the club game at some point, the software has it's details but have to say, Pioneer is doing a pretty good job with it, and having the liscense included just makes it grate for a first controller!!

The Best Entry Level Controller
If you’re looking to: 1 learn to DJ/mix tracks/play better music at parties; 2 improve your skills at the above from beginner to intermediate after using a smaller/more entry level controller; 3 better understand especially electronic music, this is for you. There are tons of tutorials using this specifically controller on YouTube, this controller has tons of capabilities, and when used in conjunction with your computer, you can really make your setup, with this as the remote so to speak, sing. With one song being controlled by one side, and one on the other, plus the various effects and manners in which you can modify the tracks’ sounds, this controller allows you to experience a musical playground of sorts, where you’re in control. You will use this with RekordBox, Pioneer’s proprietary controller software - in this you will organize your tracks into crates (which are folders of music ((can’t have duplicates, organize the contents - it’s just to house tracks like all of your House music, let’s say))), and playlists. On the software you can set cue points, loops, etc - it will also show the BPM and key of your tracks to help you mix various songs together. Pioneer is the most well known brand of DJ controllers, CDJs, and mixers - so learning on this will set you up to be comfortable with basically everything else that’s out there. A fantastic piece of equipment to learn on or dramatically improve your skills on. I’m not saying that it is easy to learn - anything amazing like this takes time, but this is the place to start, and with some time, attention, and practice, you could use this to make music, mashup songs, create amazing build ups and drops, and DJ parties and so much more

A Great Budget Controller that Performs Very Well! A good one to get if you are just starting out!
This is a pretty sweet Controller for the money! I recently started a mobile DJ business and this controller looked like it work well and I like the price, especially since I spent a lot on other audio equipment. I'm not much for RecordBox software, although it works fine on my Rog Strix PC and I have no problem mixing songs. The DDJ-400 Controller performs very well and is pretty well made and solid. I really need to take the time to learn more of what it can do. I'm not a beginner DJ but am unfamiliar with this specific controller and I started mixing and didn't even read the manual yet. lol I think this definitely an affordable and remarkable controller for new DJs just starting out. So far, I have been able to load mp3, flac, and aiff audio content in RecordBox free version. I still need to register this product. I believe it comes with RecordBox full on registering it, but unsure at this time.

Best value with software license
It was between this one and the RB3. I chose the DDJ 400 because it came with rekordbox software license bundled and it was designed to be as similar as possible with the professional Pioneer club CDJs out there. I started off with the Numark Party Mix and outgrew that and decided that I needed something more complex and with more features and functions to do what I want. I looked at all the Pioneer, Roland, Numark controllers in this price range and settled for this. This probably comes close to what you will use in a club environment when it comes to the layout and features of a controller. It's also good enough for an aspiring DJ starting out and moving into more advanced skills in DJing. Has all the necessary button, pads and knobs for most effects and functions that you need. Learning and training on this helps you accustom yourself to the higher end Pioneer CDJs if you ever aspire to play in a club. Lots of instructional youtube videos on this controller to get you along. I highly recommend.

Thicc
This thing really feels like pro equipment. I used to spin vinyl back in the 90s and I wanted to get some practice in the new school of DJing. I am super happy with this. I built a lil PC for this controller to dedicate to music production and mixing/remixing. Software has lots of options in it. The software is like 50% of a controller and this one has the most options for a non upgraded version that I've seen. I only gave 4 stars because the USB jack is slightly loose on the back, and it had a small scratch on the face of it between the mid and low knobs on deck 2. (It appears to be brand new as promised, looks like a slight factory blimish) It's is very minor but if I ever went to resell it might be something someone would notice. It wasn't bad enough to try and return and I am really happy with this product.

User Friendly, Perfect for Beginners, Amazing Product
I absolutely love this deck. I'm brand new to DJ'ing and after about 4 weeks of playing around and learning how the device works I'm finally able to mix at a beginner level. My friends love coming over and playing around with the music, i even get to have little concerts in my living room! My next goal is to keep practicing and hopefully play at some local bars. If you're new to DJ'ing or really want to learn I highly recommend buying this product. It comes with a Rekordbox DJ license key as well. Rekordbox DJ is by far one of the best DJ programs to date, I know some people prefer to use VirtualDJ over this however I like the program provided by Pioneer. I'm able to manage tracks based off of numerous criteria. And the track analysis is pretty through the roof. Others have complained that the program reads songs incorrectly however this hasn't been an issue for me. 5 stars all around, I'm highly impressed with this product and its helped open a lot of doors for me in the future. Thank you, Pioneer!

Amazing Controller for Price. Best on market DDJ 400
Possibly the best controller ever made for the entry level $200-$300 range. The reasons are simple. This controller feels and plays like Pioneer's higher end gear.DDJ 400 is Easy for the beginner to set up. Filter knobs, loop/beat/sample controls are all exactly where you'd play with them on any high end Pioneer mixer or multi player. I used Serato for years and the change to Rekordbox has been much more user friendly than I expected. Putting Itunes playlists and music collections into Rekordbox is easy with mixvibes software. (Cross DJ by mixvibes will do it automatically for you) I had been very frustrated with the selection of entry level controllers until this beauty came out. Great for gigs, on the move, house parties, festivals, etc..because of its size and durability. only need 1 USB cord. And if it gets damaged or stolen, its much easier to scrounge up $250 than 5 grand for a proper DJ set up!
