The Tenant Review: Wow! - I love the writing style of Freida, how the story grabs you right away & keeps you hooked until the end. And all the twists & turns definitely make you think. Just WOW! Review: “Trust no one… except Goldy.” - Freida McFadden does it again—delivering a fast-paced psychological thriller packed with chaos, questionable choices, and characters that make you want to throw the book across the room (in the best way possible). The Tenant is a wild ride of multiple POVs, which I always love for the layered storytelling and added suspense. From page one, you’re sucked into a train wreck you can’t look away from. The male main character? Maddening. Dumb. So incredibly annoying that I wanted to scream. The female lead? Way too obliging for her own good—but when the final pieces fall into place, it’s honestly hilarious how twisted it all gets. This one is classic Freida: unreliable characters, tension that never lets up, and a plot that leaves you second-guessing everything. It’s a quick read, full of “WTF” moments, where you’ll catch yourself yelling at the characters to make literally any better decision. And when it comes to trust? Don’t. Just don’t. Except for Goldy. Goldy is the real MVP. While not my all-time favorite from McFadden’s growing list of addictive thrillers, The Tenant still delivers on the drama, the dysfunction, and the signature Freida flair. Perfect for when you need a fast, unputdownable dose of chaos.

Solid airport book. Nothing to write home about
The storyline was good but the character development wasn’t great. The main character was a 30 something white man with a Marketing career. But his actual personality read like a college aged woman to me. And the career wasn’t convincing. I think she needed to take it a step deeper with the characters. I think this is a great airport read but nothing to write home about.

Great Book
Held my interest. Had many twists and turns. It also shows the dangers of sharing your house with a boarding strangers as an added bonus.

A Fast and Entertaining Read
Per usual, McFadden kept me very entertained and I devoured this book in what felt like 2 sittings lol. Sometimes, I think the “plot twists” are too out there to be real/likely which is what knocks the book down a star for me. But it was en entertaining and fast read!

WOWY Wow WOWZA
This book completely messed with my head in the best way. Frieda McFadden delivers a fast-paced psychological thriller that pulls you in, makes you feel confident about what you “know,” and then quietly flips everything upside down. The tension builds steadily, the characters keep you questioning motives, and just when you think you’ve figured it out… nope. The twists come fast, sharp, and unapologetically. The final chapters had me rereading pages just to make sure I didn’t miss something and that ending? Absolutely unhinged. This is one of those books where you immediately rethink the entire story once you’re done. Creepy, clever, and impossible to put down. If you like thrillers that leave you stunned and staring at the wall after the last page, this one delivers. Highly recommend just don’t expect to sleep much once you get close to the end. 🔥😵💫📖

Nice twist
Loved the twist at the end. Not her best writing but still not bad. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would always be a fan

Freida did it again !!!!
The Tenant – On the surface, Blake seems to have it made: he’s rolling in success, recently climbed the corporate ladder with a big promotion, and is engaged to Krista. The two are dreaming big, all set to build a picture-perfect life in their charming Brownstone. But just when things seem to be going his way, life throws him a curveball. Blake’s career hits a rough patch, and before they know it, he and Krista are strapped for cash. With bills piling up and no other choice, they put out feelers for a tenant to help cover the mortgage. To ease their financial burden, Krista suggests they rent out one of their spare rooms. After sitting through a string of nightmare applicants, the perfect tenant finally walks through the door—Whitney, a striking young woman in need of a place to crash. At first, everything seems to fall into place… until things start to go off the rails. Blake can’t shake the feeling that something’s seriously off. The question is—can he get to the bottom of it all before things spiral completely out of control? One thing I absolutely love about Freida’s writing is the fast-paced nature of her books and the punchy, shorter chapters—this one delivered exactly that. I also really enjoyed the male POV; it was refreshing and added a unique layer to the story as his unraveling played out. It was thoroughly entertaining, and I was hooked by the concept of Blake questioning his own sanity. The story does a brilliant job of highlighting how people’s actions—and the ripple effects of those choices—can influence our own behavior, even in those who seem the most grounded and put-together. When it comes to a Freida McFadden book, you know we have to talk about the twist—and this one did not disappoint! It was sharp, unexpected, and had that classic Freida flair. I had a hunch about how things might end, but I definitely didn’t expect it to go that far. I love how Freida consistently delivers those wild, off-the-wall endings that somehow manage to work perfectly—they're bizarre, bold, and so much fun. This was a solid 5/5 ⭐️ read for me! I’d highly recommend it to all mystery lovers—you’ll want to binge this in one sitting. And if you’re not typically into mysteries, give this one a shot anyway. It might just be the book that reignites your love for the genre!
