I might a UPS driver and need strong light during the Christmas season and recently ordered these as a switch from the mag lite XL series due to price and higher lumen count, having tried them out I will be continuing to use these V1 flash lights as my standard and even gave a couple to coworkers who were amazed at the distance and brightness these put out.

Fantastic flashlight.
Best flashlight I have ever owned. I live in the remote high desert so they get used hard. I've bought five of them for home, vehicles and gifts. One had a faulty button and they quickky replaced it. Can't recommend enough!

Five stars
Very well crafted with very bright lights. I was very pleased to find this set that not only includes 3 well made flashlights, but that the lights themselves only use one AA battery each and put out such a bright light. I have one in my car, one in my bike bag, and keep one by my bed. Highly recommended.

Best flashlight I've ever owned! Great bang for the buck.
More than I expected. Amazingly bright for such a small pocket light. I'm using an LiCB 14500 AA battery and it clearly lights up the woods next to our house at 300 feet away. I use the low power in the house and that matches or surpasses most other lights that use 2-AA batteries. Has a nice solid feel and you can tell the switch is of good quality.

Works best in my trash can.
Well, I'm sitting here with my 3 ea. J5 Tactical V-1 Pro Flashlights waiting for a Catagory 5 hurricaine to arrive. So angry. The Energizer AA battery does not work in the flash light. Way too much room in the tube. So the flashlights are useless. And, yes, I know batteries. I worked for a major Battery company for 5 years. Sold every battery known at the time. I stretched the wire on the annode to try to make a connection. Still didn't work. There is a material defect in this product that the manufacturer hasn't addressed. I've read plenty of reviews from others who also couldn't use a AA battery with the flashlight. The unenlightened responses have been that the owner wasn't using a real AA battery. Yes they were, and yes I am. For those who have a functioning J5, congratulations. For those who don't, I feel your pain. One thing I do know: my trash can works!

For the money...best light you can buy!
Very powerful flashlight! For its size (and the fact that it only uses one AA battery) it is the best light I have ever owned. I own two Surefires, two maglites, and a couple knock off brand lights. This light is not as bright as a surefire but you are paying peanuts compared to those lights. I actually think this light is better equipped to look long distances (over 50 yards) than those other lights. The light beam is pretty narrow so it was a little difficult to follow blood trails (deer hunting) but if you need to look across an open field or just have a light in your house for security or looking for things this is the light you want. Compact, bright, sturdy and cheap!

3 out of 3 failures in less than a year - You get what you pay for!
Edited to Add:Within 10 months I have had 3 out of 3 of these torches fail, 2 of them in subfreezing temps. At first I thought it was cold batteries but even a battery swap did not correct the issue. Even after being brought back up to room temperature the switches would not function. I kept them around for parts, but when the third POS blinked off after being dropped on concrete, I threw them all in the bin. I encourage anyone using these in a situation where it matters to seriously consider moving these to non-critical roles in your kit (or throwing them away).Original review:First rattle out of the box: These are not "tactical" whatsoever. Tail-cap button audibly activates. Momentary activation with gloves is iffy, but works well with Rogers technique sans gloves. Sharp edges on grip will shred and pinch your skin if you tried to use kubotan techniques or as a last-ditch impact weapon. The best thing these have going for them is the battery form factor, battery-life, beam intensity and cost. If you drop one of these out in the boonies you won't be down on your hands and knees looking for it like you would if it was a $250 SureFire.Pros:Outperforms most last-gen torchesCheap!Uses the proven AA battery form factor, so exploding and leaking CR123 and 18650s is a non-issueCons:Not bleeding edge tech by any means and lacks the bells and whistles of many patrol lights or stuff you could buy off the shelf at REICrude focus mechanism which cannot be manipulated one-handedCovered with sharp edges which shred clothes and pocketsRandom hesitancy activating in cold weatherNot submersible and especially susceptible to frost (Using dielectric grease helps immensely)The most tightly focused beam is shaped like the LED die (square)Rubber tail cap wears outUnderstanding the limitations from the outset, this is a great utility torch.

Perfect and well worth the price. Great item to own.
These little flashlights are great. Well made and VERY useful. Several positions for lights - steady, strobe, blinking - they are perfect for pocketbook or the car or by your bedside.Older friends use them to navigate when they have to get up in the middle of the night, but are excellent for many uses.
