I love to do all sorts of art. The hard part is if you want to just mess around with sketches, if you want to use multiple tools, in my case, I have to bring a bunch of cases of pencils with me. This set allows me to get an assortment of different tools all in one easy to carry case. I want to save ny pro level tools for fine artwork. This kit is excellent for just enjoying sketches and artwork on a hobby level.PLASTIC WRAPPINGI wanted to mention that this kit comes in a loose plastic bag, but also inside all of the pads of paper are wrapped in plastic. I mention this because I have had issues with deliveries being left out in the pouring rain and getting expensive art paper soaking wet which really upsets me. This set is well thought out and protected as far as paper goes.CASEThis case is very well made. It is tough and well laid out. The zipper is a double zipper that meets in the middle. I am very impressed with that feature. The elastics are well laid out and there is plenty of room for the pads included too. The handle on the top is great for easy carrying.COLORED PENCILSThese pencils come in a variety of styles. There are watercolors, oils, florescents, and metallics. They are decent quality but not top of the line. I would put them in a medium quality rating. They will layer a bit, but not a lot. They are actually pretty good compared to some I have used.PADSThe pads that come in this kit are all pretty nice too. The quality is solid - not really cheap, but not top of the line either. Still it is a good value. The papers are all pretty nice.COLORING BOOKThe coloring book is decent quality for fun and relaxing, but the paper quality is not top of the line either. Yet, I can get pretty good color on it for fun. The designs are decent.THE PENCILS AND SKETCHING TOOLSThe pencils and sketching tools are also decent quality. I can get some good sketches for fun, but it is not top of the line performance. These are really decent though, and I do find them satisfying to use and get decent performance from them.OTHER TOOLSThe other tools in the kit are decent and worth having. They work well and are good quality.PASTELS AND CHARCOALThese are also good enough to enjoy using for sketches and mixed media. They are decent and perform well enough.THE BOTTOM LINEThis kit is an excellent value. As an artist, I like to use it when I want to just relax and not be up tight about quality and making everything COUNT. It is more fun and relaxing to play with than professional tools which are for more intense work.MY RATINGFIVE STARS. For what is in this kit, I highly recommend it. I am very happy with it and will be purchasing another to give as a gift for an artist away at school on a tight budget. This won't be professional level, but you can still get pretty good results with most anything in this kit until you get a project at the point of using professional tools if that is your goal.

I don't hand out 5 star reviews unless I'm super impressed or there is a huge WOW! factor.I'll start by saying I have the 72 colored pencil set, a pack of their colorless blenders and burnishers, along with their 24 pack of chalk pastel pencils.I am a fan.I found out about this company by watching a review video made by a color pencil artist and author.She gave this company's colored pencil set the highest rating for budget friendly pencils.I am heavy into Zentangle art and have numerous sets of pencils. Wax based, oil based, metallic, watercolor, chalk, charcoal and graphite. I also use different sets of micro pens.Kalour is a favorite, and this set is super duper. A good taste of numerous mediums. For me, it's a great travel case, if you have to travel as a passenger, wait for appointments, stay in a hotel for a function or vacation.Also great to introduce someone young or older who wants to be creative and may be looking for a good fit that they can take further. I started out with a set of colored pencils, a few graphite pencils and a set of micron pens. Now I have shelves, drawers and boxes of my favorite art tools.I also own a nice set of Prismacolor Premier pencils, they are highly pigmented and loved by many, many artists. Me too.Kalour is also a favorite, nicely pigmented and very enjoyable to use. Inexpensive compared to Prismacolor.Nice quality in all included pencils and tools.Everything you need to really achieve beautiful artwork. There are tons of free videos online to teach techniques using everything included in this set.If you like watercolor painting, or adding color with paint to your drawings, the included water brush is spot on. If you want to pursue this venue, you can buy sets of these brushes in different sizes.The water color pencils are also available in larger sets with gorgeous colors.Metallic pencils, oil based, wax based, chalk pastels... all come in larger sets with many colors.I highly recommend any and all of Kalour products. Even items I do not own myself, I've watched be used by other artists and I'm always pleased and impressed.Great prices too.

A good set of colors for a beginner artist to test out, he bag it comes in is pretty good quathe color pencils are pretty decent quality and the addition of various papers to test them out on is very nice!a couple cons i have with this is:1. The zipper on the casing is very fragile so don't pull the zipper too hard or it will get loose2. The art blade that comes with feels very flimsy and could potentially fall apart, so use with caution3. while the tutorial paper that comes with it is a nice addition, the paper quality is very low and came out crumpled and almost torebut aside from those, these would be a good set for any hobbyist or beginner!

I'm very impressed with this art set! It's truly amazing how much is included here...just about every kind and color of colored pencil you could possibly need, along with extras like blender pencils, erasers, charcoal pencils, and even a variety of sketch books! I've recently gotten into sketching, and with this set I have literally everything I need. When I was looking it over, I thought how I was going to need to go get a pencil sharpener, but a quick look showed that too was included---two different kinds! That's what kept happening---I wished I had a certain supply, and found out I did have it! The packaging is quite good, as there is a place for everything and it all closes up into a holder for easy transport or storage. If you have a young artist you are encouraging, this would be a wonderful set for a holiday present, one that wouldn't break the bank but would give them lots of different style pencils to work with. I'm enjoying it a lot!
