I was looking for a cold therapy machine for my husband and thought I'd buy the one my daughter had. Then I saw this one that was cheaper and got much better reviews. LOVE IT! Much lighter weight and easier to maneuver than hard sided plastic ones. Just load with ice (frozen bottled water is easiest), fill with water, plug in and turn on. Works for shoulders, elbows and knees. Highly recommend!

My wife's knee replacement surgery was nearly a month ago so this review is based on REAL usage. It was been fine. Easy to set up. Easy to maintain. At first I would dump the water every night. After awhile I realized it was much easier to simply scoop part of the water out with a sauce pan. This allows us to leave the unit conveniently next to our recliner. We then refill with a sauce pan of cold water. Much easier than toting the unit. We then add one tray of ice cubes, one cold pack, and one or two coke bottles of frozen water. The coke bottles float and fit easily into the spacious unit.The remote control is a standout feature. Setting it to automatically switch one and off with the timer is a huge advantage. After a week or so we made a few 'upgrades'. First I added a aquarium thermometer with a submerged sensor. This allows us to monitor the water temperature. We try to stay in the upper 30's to low 40's temperature range. The unit is so well insulated it holds the cold temperature for 4 to 6 hours easily. Our second 'upgrade' was to use ball bungee cords instead of the velcro straps to hold the pad in place. The velcro straps were strong but difficult for my wife to pull apart. We replaced them with easy to use ball bungee cords. She can put them on and undo them easily and they hold the pads nearly as tight. I also want to mention how quiet the unit is. Since the pump is inside the insulated unit you hear nothing more than a slight hum. A third improvement we made was to run the two wires going to the remote inside a flexible sleeve meant to harness wires. The flexible sleeve works like a charm to keep the wires from tangling.There are many icy therapy machines out there but they all function the same way. We are extremely happy with our choice. The price was a true bargain and it has proven to be easy to use and very effective. My wife's staples are out, she is nearly done with PT, and has started to drive again. We are convinced the "Ice Machine" was a huge help in her recovery.

I considered various cold therapy systems and decided on ICYTHRP Cold Therapy Machine with Programmable Timer. I didn't need a lot of bells and whistles, but I did want a timer. That was the right choice. The system is easy to use and has helped me enormously after my knee surgery. The timer has many programmable choices. The company stands behind its product and sent me replacement parts, including pads and hoses when I needed them. I have been using this machine daily for almost 3 months and eventually I needed a few new parts and they sent them immediately. I have seen other systems without timers and wouldn't even consider it. With ICYTHRP system, I can even take a nap and let the timer cycle on and off. The system is almost soundless. I never hear it and that was an important factor also. I strongly recommend this system for cold therapy. I don't know what I would do without it. It is an excellent product and the price is reasonable.

Easy to set up, works great! It stays cold for long time, the Velcro straps and super strong, and comfortable to wear on a knee or ankle or wherever.

I purchased this cold therapy machine for my recent knee replacement. It worked out well and so much less expensive than the machine offered by medical equipment service. I left by my bedside, was able to set the timer to run all night. This is a great feature. No problem with leaking, we filled with frozen water bottles and water. Was very helpful with my recovery.

This was an absolute necessity for controlling swelling and pain in the first 1-1/2 months after getting a total knee replacement. Super easy to set-up, use, and clean-up. Worked FAR BETTER than typical ice-packs; the circulation of 32F water took the swelling down extremely fast - and along with it, the pain in the joint & muscles.

Definitely worth the money. My wife had knee replacement surgery and used this machine for rehab and recovery. Knee replacement surgery is not easy but with the consistent cold therapy this unit provided recovery was more tolerable. Easy hook-up and dependable cold therapy was necessary and this machine did the job. Yes she had to be hooked-up, but the cold therapy helped with inflammation and with pain management and the ability to customize the time icing all adds up to our recommendation of this cold therapy machine. It is mobile, the velcro straps provided were the right size and the unit was reliable and durable. 5 stars
