I use gear oil as a cutting fluid. Works great, bits last a long time, Amazon has it too
I've been working with metal for the better part of 50 years. This NEIKO Bit Set is great I used them so I could use counter sink screws in 3/16" metal (NOT aluminum) Metal Diamond plate. Mighty sharp Like a hot knife through butter. I'm very happy with this purchase. We were putting this metal diamond plate down on the bed of a box truck. About 75 holes before we weld it in. 5 bits come in a little case. It took 2 days to get.......... Thanks for hooking me up Amazon.

Worked well on Aluminum
I purchased these to do some standard countersinking on aluminum parts I was making on the mill. they worked very well, left a nice smooth cut, and stayed sharp for the entire project. Not sure how they'd fare with steel (but I suspect pretty well) since I didnt use them on steel.

Actually... great little drill bits!
I'm kinda shocked. I totally expected these to be a throwaway set. I grabbed them shortly after a move, categorically-unable to figure out which box had my USA Drill and DrillHog bits, and in need of something quick. Amazon same-day'd em. Fair enough. But... I'll be damned if I can break the things, or even DULL em. I mean, not that I've been actively TRYING to or anything sadistic like that, but... I build fine furniture. I've prolly put 500+ holes in Maple, Red Oak, Sapele, Ash, and gods only know how much birch ply, and they're STILL going strong. I've thrown out DeWalt sets in less time. They're short (but hey, they DO call em stubby), but that just means they don't ever have enough torque on em to snap. They're brad-point (so wood ONLY), but that's cool by me; I'm a woodworker. They're HEX SHANK (and yeah, against all common sense and likely the manufacturers' warnings, I use them - frequently - in my impact driver), which is unheard of, but again: I suspect the "stubby" part is why I keep sweeping up sawdust and not shrapnel. I epoxied one of those little rubber bit holders to one of my DeWalt impact drivers and just use it - along with these bits - exclusively for pilot holes, which, if I'm totally honest, they're better at delivering than literally everything else I have, outside my braces and bits (and sometimes, you just need a hole. NOW). My ONLY complaint (which I didn't even dock a half star for) is that the little rubber bit holder they COME IN sucks. they fall out of it if you look at it sternly. But regarding the bits themselves? The absolute best feedback I can offer is this: HEY NEIKO! If you ever release a 10- 18- or 24-pack of these in the full gamut of sizes? I'll buy them in a hot second. Likewise, if you ever want someone to TEST em for you in real work-environment settings, you call me, you hear? I'll be delighted to give you the best analysis and feedback you've ever received from an end-user.

Quality/Durability
Works fine for drilling in wood for attaching wood pieces together. You just have to be careful about pressure applied to bit for "walking" out of line. I don't know about steel products.

Should have bought this thirty years ago …
The right tool for the job. The Neiko quality is very high. The set is perfect for my uses, and it comes in a nice Aluminium case that will keep them from getting lost.
