Essentials of Specific Learning Disability Identification

I have found this book to be an excellent resource when dealing with SLD issues. I am a former special educaction teacher and today I am an attorney representing children with disabilities in public education. Everybody talks about "learning disabilities," but few really understand how these disabilities affect children in education. This book provides a solid foundation for understanding learning disabilities and advocating for these children.

Great resource! The only "con"- the print is tiny, which is not good for a person with poor vision. :)Other than the print size, the book was very helpful when writing reports for my Educational Diagnostician program.

I love that this gives a variety of processes for identifying SLD, and has a chapter devoted to the cognitive tests that our district is allowed to use. Able to implement immediately. This also really clarified things for me, as a new school psychologist. Wish this had been recommended reading early in my program!

I have bought Dawn Flanagan's books and attended several workshops that she put on. As a school psychologist I find her work readable, informative, and balanced in its approach. This volume is a nice addition to the volumes of hers I already own.

I am new as an educational diagnostician. And the "Essentials" books are great resources for analyzing and completing reports to parents and schools.

A valuable resource for a school psychologist when trying to identify SLD and make meaningful goals and recommendations. These people are the best in the field and these books belong on any School Psycs shelf. Top Notch.
