Wonderful solid little hatchet and the sheath fits, super great camp tool.

It's a reasonable axe, but all the product photos show the axe as much larger than it actually is. As another reviewer mentioned, it's really a hatchet, not an axe. You can see it in my photo next to a real axe.My father and I use hatchets for splitting kindling. The hatchet reviewed here is ideal for this purpose. It has a sturdy wood handle, a substantial flat butt for a small sledge to strike, and is heavy enough to do the work. It comes with a leather strap for hanging in the tool shed, and a leather cover to keep the blade clean.The weight and balance are perfect. The blade, as received, was not as sharp as I like, but that is true of almost any edge tool. I tried a file on it, since many people do not have grinding wheels, and found that I could bring it to a sharper edge without much trouble.To summarize, I found this hatchet to be a handy tool for splitting kindling.

This little axe is adorable, and a great little chopper - but be careful! Always wear eye protection. Never use it while under the influence of mind altering substances.

Great quality small ax. Good for felling, splitting or making kindling. The sheathe keeps it safe and sharp. The leather strap keeps it from becoming an ax throwing contest and the hammer head can come in handy pounding in tent stakes or whatever on a camping trip. The handle is a good, comfortable size for easy swinging. It's really a perfect size for getting a good, strong swing with enough mass to get some good chopping done. Easy one-handed swing.

Unfortunately, this hatchet is a huge letdown. I bought it for my 10 year old son, upon opening I could clearly see it had been previously used. Wear marks everywhere, blade dull as a spoon. My son wouldn’t let me return it though, he was too excited for it. A week later, the handle started coming loose. It looks nice…but it’s poor quality and a waste of money.
