Big Ol' Block of Rosin That Sounds Great Too
When this popped up, I decided to give it a try, as I had been thinking of seeing what gold-fleck rosin is all about. First, it's a considerably larger puck of rosin than I anticipated. Second, it offers just the right about of grip for a full sound that isn't harsh but can still get quite loud. I'd put its overall sound on par with Jade L'Opera, which itself sits right between dark and light rosin. But, there's probably at least twice as much rosin in this cake than in the Jade, so its price-to-weight ratio is much better.

It's rosin
The open design is nice for later on when it gets low. But it's the most brittle rosin I've ever owned, I accidentally tapped it with the little metal piece at the frog of the bow and it basically shattered.

Surprisingly good rosin
I'm a violinist by profession, and I have to say that this rosin is surprisingly good. To me, Baker's rosin is the absolute gold standard for rosin, and it would absolutely turn the rosin business upside the head if it wasn't less available than gold itself. Far greater men and women than I have had trouble buying the rosin due to its total lack of availability. It's very difficult to compare rosins, really the only two things I can come up with is how well the bow grips and how consistent the tone quality is when you pull the bow across the strings. Often times, one rosin will have one or the other, rarely will it have both (like Baker's rosin does). This rosin does seem to offer very good tone consistency, but also appears to grip slightly better than something like Bernadel (which I think is known for its smooth tone). Additionally, I notice less rosin dust coming off, however you do have to rosin more in order for it to apply sufficiently.Another thing is it comes in a very large cake and it's fairly inexpensive at 15 dollars. I do wish it came with a tin to put it in because it is unusually sized though.

Good sized chunk
I'm not an expert enough to declare whether this is super good or anything, but it seems to work well enough for me. It has a cloth attached to it and it's round instead of a block. I guess the round ones tend to have more rosin, so hopefully this will last a long time.

Pretty rosin, works well!
I don't actually play the violin, my daughter does, and she was running low on rosin. I was surprised at how pretty this is, I was kind of sad when she scratched it up to start using it! She says it works well, it doesn't have too much "dust" flying around. It comes with a beautiful gold cloth to help keep things tidy.

Pretty and functional
I got this for my daughter who is new to playing the viola and heard that the gold rosin could improve her sound due to how it works on the strings. When she saw it she said it was too pretty to use. But she has used it a couple of times now, prefers the round shape to her prior rectangular one, and likes that it comes with an attached cloth for quick cleaning.

Good rosin but no case!
Worked great for my kiddo's violin. About average. The cloth it comes with is nice enough but there isn't anything sturdy to keep it in unlike previous ones. The size is good. Ok value, there seems to be others with a case at this same point.
