Loving my gold bug 2. Was pretty easy to learn how to use, found gold with it on my first day out!

Will pick up everything from the smallest of allum pieces to sub-gram gold, fine gold chain
Outstanding for Gold Country and Dry Riverbeds. Not so much for Beach-Combing, because although it will find small gold and jewelry, it will also find Every other metal on the Beach, right down to the tiniest of Aluminum pieces, cigarette pack foil, barrettes, tent steaks, bottle caps and pull tabs with almost no discrimination. As I said... It finds everything! This is tuned specifically to 71khz for locating sub-gram Gold pickers and also works great for finding concentrated River-Gold deposits. However, because it is so sensitive to the tiniest bits of most metals, you will have to dig every Target on the Beach to be sure. This Item is for serious Gold Prospectors.

Dependable, works as it is supposed to, great variable settings.
This is my second Gold Bug II since they first came out. There's an advantage to being able to adjust the settings on the go in the field. There are other more modern detectors with full or nearly full auto settings that do well but the Gold Bug II's many dials allow an experienced user to tweak it for better results in the field. Including 2 plate sizes is a great deal. Use the smaller one for crevising in narrow areas such as tight stream beds, etc. The larger plate for more open ground areas or bank side.

I like the light weight and great ergonomics for swinging. I bought it to find the survey stakes on my property.

Broke down almost immediately after warranty expired. Cannot get company to return my call to fix.
Lightly used. Never dropped or anything abusive. Detector stopped working just a few months after warranty expired. Bad switch I think, which seems to be a common problem. Not able to get company to respond to me about a repair. After the Fisher operator says the line is busy, puts you on hold for 20 minutes, then they put you through to voice mail. Why do they put you on hold if it just goes to voicemail anyway. Then no one calls back. I think they don’t want to stand behind their products and give you the run around until you stop trying to reach them. Samsung did the same thing to me. Wanted to buy a F75 but NOT now.
