4K 8K and Beyond
I was in need of a video player capable of handling my extensive collection of 4K &1080P videos stored on a small hard drive, I made the decision to purchase this Zidoo compact device. I must express my profound satisfaction with its performance. It not only enhances the quality of my videos but also delivers immersive Dolby Atmos and Aura 3D sound. The video quality far surpasses my expectations.The setup process was straightforward, although I did seek guidance from U Tube tutorials. Thorough research on the player’s capabilities ensured that my purchase was a worthwhile investment. If you prioritize video playback, this device is an exceptional choice. I complement it with my Apple TV for streaming purposes, while this player serves as my primary movie player.This purchase has been highly satisfactory, and I am eager to share my positive experience. Should’ve bought one years ago!
Before the Zidoo, I have an Apple TV for my dedicated home theater. I worked really well at them time until I got into ripping physical media using MakeMKV. I then discovered that the Apple TV doesn’t support TrueHD Dolby Atmos pass through so I was not getting the highest quality audio that my discs had. I could have gotten a Blu-ray player or a kaleidoscape but with my AV rack being 2 rooms away changing discs would be too inconvenient and the kaleidoscape is way outside of my budget. In comes the Zidoo player! It is the perfect solution for me. Convenient and affordable! I just rip my 4K UHD discs to my NAS, connect the NAS to the Zidoo player and thats it! Pure Dolby Vision, ATMOS, HDR 10+ and you entire library at your finger tips. My only complaint is remote app. Since my AV rack is too far for the included IR remote to work and the app could be improved. But nothing a software update can’t fix. I did buy the v12 Bluetooth remote and everything has been great!

Zidoo9x lacks TMBD Support
Purchased Zidoo9x in March but had to return unit. Media player could not update movie information from TMBD. No information on Zidoo website on how to fix issue. Zidoo player was great connecting to my movie library on a NAS. Playback was great and sound (Sonos) worked great. However, could not find solution to problem via internet movie sites. Looking at R-volution mini for possible purchase. Amazon did refund my account quickly. Movie library is about 1200 titles. Blu-Ray movies look great. If Zidoo can fix issue I may repurchase the device again.

BUYER BEWARE - STUTTERING ISSUES
I really wanted to like this device. I have a Zidoo Z9X Pro and was very happy. I figured the 8K was a nice upgrade. The issues started right away. When playing back 4K, Dolby Vision files, the movies would regularly pause then resume. It was so frequent and annoying it made them unwatchable. I've contacted Zidoo customer service looking for some guidance, posted in the Zidoo forum and on Facebook. Unfortunately, no solution ever worked, but some others said they were having similar issues. Ultimately, I claimed a warranty issue. Zidoo said they would refund the device, but I have to pay for shipping back. Don't love that, but at least they're refunding me.

It’s cool, a bit unstable
It is a good device. Somewhere between a 3-4 star really. It has a couple of major issues that are not clearly advertised:1. It doesn’t always load or read NFOs for shows. From the forums, it seems an issue only with new TV shows loaded as a new library in HT5. Apparently, it is not an issue if you imported them from HT4 or use the older model.2. It is generally very good in stability though it requires a reboot often. In 3 days and it needed a couple of reboots to reconnect to the AVR properly using CEC. Hopefully, it is a matter of it struggling during setup and getting it fully updated to the latest firmware, but it questions its long-term stability.I’d say it is a cool device to try new things, but unless an update improves things, it may not be a keeper.

I don’t leave reviews normally, but this device deserves it.
I used to use WD media player back when all we had was 1080p and lower. Once they discontinued those I started using plex, streaming, or running a 15ft HDMI to my pc.Since moving recently I was struggling to find a method to run my 80gb mkvs seamlessly. Reddit led me to this device. I plugged in my hdd and tried blade runner 2049. Instantly blown away. Plug in and play Dolby vision and Atmos worked flawlessly. Couldn’t be happier granted I’m only 2 days in. Will update if necessary.

Compact and handles various formats well
Why did you pick this product vs others?:I like the compactness of this player. So far, it handles various video and audio codecs very well.

Awesome.
This player is snappy and does a great job of adding all the metadata to your movies. I’d say it’s more accurate than Plex. This is a way better option than an nvidia shield for playing back everything in Dolby formats. I have it plugged in to my hard drive with all my personal copy 4k and blu ray rips. It does have streaming functionality but I’d rather use my Apple TV for that. This isn’t necessarily a streaming box, it’s a player that plays maximum quality files for the best movie experience if you have the appropriate equipment.
