Clunky, but works.
So far I think this is working fairly well. It was a little cumbersome to put together and the manual wasn't as helpful as it could've been. Looking at the pictures on the Amazon page helped.I like the idea behind this system the ceramic balls and the K1 fluid bed things and everything seems to be working correctly. It's also really quiet, which I like. All in all, I have no complaints thus far other then I found it to be a little clunky to get everything initially set up.

Long wait for big disappointment
It takes sometime to understand the instructions. More pictures would have been niceUnfortunately this is way too big for my ten gallon tank. I placed this one inch from the bottom of my tank and as you can see it extends beyond the water level and above the tankI guess I need to return this one

Design Flaws
I have and use many different filters for my tanks - skimmers, HOB, sponge, cannisters, etc. unfortunately, this one does not work. The concept is fine, and there are several out there of a similar design that work fine. I tried staging the assembly to figure out where the flaw is. The pump, by itself, seems to work fine and has a decent amount of flow. Adding the pump to the intake housing still has a good amount of flow with the bottom cover on.As soon as he outlet chamber is attached, the flow drops to almost nothing. I am uncertain if it is due leakage in the chamber, or resistance due to correcting, but it does not move any water worth mention once assembled. You can see from the photos, it is seriously lacking. I had hoped with the lily head, that there would have been a good amount of flow, but I was mistaken.I am glad I assembled this in a test bucket before installing on an actual tank. I would have been furious if I had everything ready to go, then found out the filter was bad.Stay as far away from this filter as possible. To not be tempted by the low price point. I guess I will, at least, be able to use the media and possibly the pump for circulating pre-change water. Save your $ and look for other options.

Clearer water quality
This gave my 37 gallon community tank better water quality. My two plecos love sucking on the sponges, too. It doesn't take up too much space, so that was good. All in all, I would recommend this product to someone who's wanting supplemental filtration for their tank.

Truly silent aquarium
I've taken a long time to review this because i wanted to make sure it actually worked the way I hoped when I first saw it. This is very much the same as most sponge filters on the market but with a water pump built in instead of needing an air pump to power it. It took me a bit of adjusting and fiddling to get proper flow , still not really sure what the initial issues were but it's working well now. Great flow for a 10 or 20 gallon standard, a little light for a 20Long and I would say definitely not enough flow for anything larger but my intent is a 20Long planted shrimp tank so this is proving to be perfect for me. The huge benefit of this filter is that it is actually silent. No powerful canister motor, no trickling form an HOB, no vibration or gurgling from an air pump, silent. Not every aquarium needs to be silent but in some cases it's preferred even to the beneficial white noise most filters give off and this one delivers for that use. I did take 1 star off my rating because I would like a little better waterflow for it's size and to pull more air through the included outlet that currently isn't going to oxygenate the water (not an issue on planted tanks), and it should have come with about twice as much media for the "fluid bed". Overall I'd highly recommend this to anyone using a traditional sponge filter and hoping to eliminate the racket of an air pump.

When It Works...
When this filter works, it's of good quality. But there are intermittent periods where it doesn't and that's no good.

Do not buy!
This filter worked for ten minutes, blew nice air bubbles and then it just stopped. I will be returning it immediately. Such a waste of time, luckily I am setting up a new tank otherwise I’d be extremely pissed.

Good design, relatively low flow
I like the overall design of this Seaqura K1 Fluid Bed Filter, with its combination of a filter sponge and multiple compartments for media. The output is less than I anticipated... it's adequate for a 10-15 gallon tank, but 30 gallons would be a stretch. Pump is quiet and running reliably so far at one month of use.
