Poor Quality - owned for 5 months
I bought this for a home work-station on medium-pile carpet. I have owned it for just over 5 months, and use it daily. This product arrived quickly, but was tightly rolled. It was extremely difficult to unroll onto the floor, and really needs at least 2 people for the job. It did eventually flatten out after about 4-6 weeks. This mat began showing divots from my chair wheels within the first 10 days. These became permanent, and prevented easy rolling on the mat. After four months, it began to crack, and at five months has some severe splits. I am already looking for a replacement.I would not recommend that this be used on anything other than low-pile carpeting, and it does bend under the weight of a person into the carpet. I think it would have lasted much longer if it were only for occasional use instead of daily. It also is not built to handle regular use by an adult. It may perform considerably better for a child's desk area, but I still wouldn't count on it lasting very long. This is a poor product for the price. If you just need something to get you through for a couple of months, you may be ok with this one. But if you're looking for something more permanent, steer clear. Do yourself a favor and spend a little more on something more durable and with a solid reputation.

This Carpet Protector works ok
This Spiked Carpet Protector comes rolled up in a box for easy delivery. The install is a little tricky as it maintains its initial curl for a while. Once in place and chaired on for a few days it stays flat but does shift slightly over time. I have had this happen with other spiked mats as well so it just needs to be realigned with your desk. Some people complain about dimples in the sheet from the wheels on the chair, this too is normal. You would not have dimples if the protector was on solid ground but as it is on a padded carpet, you get the dimples either in the protector or in the carpet.

Not for commerical (low pile) carpet
The first issue with this product is that it was shipped rolled up and not flat like other floor mats I've purchased, so it was very difficult to unroll it- basically requiring two people to do it.Once it was down I found that the "teeth" on the underside that hold it to the carpet are very small, so they dont do a good job in staying down. The smooth surface that your chair rolls on is both not smooth enough or hard enough to allow for good movement.I kept it because it took so much effort to get it down and I just didn't have the time (or energy) to repack and send back. It will do for now, but I won't buy this product again.

too stiff
The service/delivery was great, but the product was rolled up in a box and it was very hard to get it unrolled and I had to put the chair on it to get it to lay flat. It is still not flat on the edges. I am hoping eventually it will. Also has a plastic smell. :(

I had high hopes for this chair mat
I purchased this chair mat to use in my home office on medium pile carpet.Upon unpacking the mat it smelled because of the vinyl material and took several days to unroll from being rolled up in its shipping package. The mat worked fine for a few weeks with the only complaint being that the wheels of my chair created divits that were hard to roll out of or adjust the location of the chair slightly. As soon as winter hit and the temperature in my apartment began to be lower, the mat started cracking as I rolled over it and even sometimes while i stepped on it.Within 2 months it was unusable. I have seen mats like this fail on low pile carpet at my office after a few months as well. All I can say is that I have ordered a more sturdy (and more expensive) chair mat, and will review that after I have owned it for a few weeks.

Sags in soft carpet
Not bad overall, but on a carpet with any decent softness the mat tends to get craters where the chair legs fall. This makes the chair sink in and it's harder to roll it to a different position. Maybe should get a mat with deeper spikes/supports unless your carpet is very low-pile.

Its a good product--give it a chance!
I hate the fact that it showed up rolled up because it was very difficult to un-wind. In fact, it took all of my strength to get the thing to unfold!! However, after 12 hours of rolling on it, the mat is fine. A good, inexpensive mat!

Great so far
My husband is in school online so we finally got a home office organized for him and realized we needed to protect our carpet from the chair wheels. This product has mixed reviews but for our needs it was perfect. It didn't smell, unrolled in a day (with the help of my husband's school books) and so far hasn't cracked or shown any wear and tear. I will say that he doesn't use his home office as much as other people probably do so people who notice wear may be using their office more and therefore putting more strain on the mat. Time will tell but for now we're very happy.
