The Aiyima D03 amplifier arrived yesterday, it was literally out of the box and a plug-and-play operation. It has a very clean and balanced sound and a remote control with which I can adjust volume, bass, and treble. The amplifier is very responsive and connected to my desktop computer. Since the streaming service I use can offer a greater bit-rate than my computer's internal DAC, this amplifier with its 24-bit/192Khz DAC is a very nice match to get the most out of my streaming system. The unit came complete with USB and optical cables as well as a power supply. I drive a pair of B&W dm601's with the amplifier and a JAMA active subwoofer. I have also connected the amplifier to a pair of B&W dm603's with a pleasing sound and no problems at all driving these larger floor-standing speakers. I have no hesitation in recommending this d-class amplifier. In the picture the Aiyima D03 and the Behringer microphone pre-amp for my video conferences (everybody sounds as if they are in my study!)

-- Short story: Wanted a replacement for Aiyima A04 amp. Very happy with D03! Great flexibility and sound quality. Highly recommended! Pros: * very compact * excellent sound quality * powerful to drive Yamaha NX-E800 in 75m² living area * plethora of inputs - coaxial, optical, USB, RCA and Bluetooth * good quality DAC, which supports 44.1, 48.0, 88.2, 96.0, 176.4 and 192.0kHz * tone controls: bass and treble are adjustable in 15 steps * powerful 160W power supply (5A 32V) in the box * cables you will need are included Cons: * display cannot be switched off * remote is slightly on the cheaper side (but still miles better than having no remote!), two redundant buttons; no batteries included * uninspiring box * confusing labeling on the unit (both buttons are marked with almost identical icons) -- Longer story: I have been a happy user of the A04 amplifier. However we recently moved and it suddenly did not suited me anymore for three main reason: * acoustics of the new room were completely different, the bass started to dominate the sound * needed more inputs - previously the amplifier was connected directly to a PC and it was sufficient. * signal cables were getting interference from mains cable. I spent a good bit of time researching the topic and always gravitated towards Aiyima. When I found the D03, I had to try it. Not only am I not disappointed, I'm very happy with the upgrade. It addressed all of my issues and provides excellent sound quality. Box and contents: The box can be best described as "the box". It is there, but it is very plain and boring. It actually makes sense - your local electronic store doesn't sell those units, so the box does not need to scream to attract attention on the shopping floor. It still does a fine job protecting your purchase - there is ample padding and everything seems very secure inside. There are plenty of things inside - optical and USB cables, strong 160W (32V 5A) power supply, remote, BT antena and the amplifier itself. A 3.5mm to RCA adapter would be very welcomed though! When you take the amplifier out, it is shockingly compact. Looking at the pictures I expected something at least twice the size. UI, UX and remote: There are two buttons, one dial and a compact display on the front of the unit. Initially I thought they both were marked with "Power" icon, but it is on close inspection you will notice they have different icons. The left one button powers the device on and off, while the right one is source selection - it cycles through BT, Aux, USB, Optical and Coax. What's super handy is that the BT receiver only gets activated when BT source is selected - your phone will not hold onto the BT when it is not really needed. The big dial obviously controls the volume. One can press it as well, which activates the tone controls. Easy to use, accessible and does not clutter the front of the unit. Remote is practical as well. Nothing fancy and feels a bit light, but does the job. There are direct buttons for Volume Control and Mute, Tone Control (Bass +/- and Treble +/-), Source switching. There are two extra buttons (Next and Pre) - I couldn't figure out what they do, even in BT mode. Display is pretty basic - it gives info about the current input, volume and sampling frequency. It gives feedback when in tone controls as well. It cannot be switched off and the colour could be warmer, red or amber. Fortunately its brightness is just right - you can see it in daylight, but it doesn't cast unpleasant glow. Connectivity: There are plenty of inputs - digital and analogue - subwoofer output and speaker terminals. Terminals are a bit on the smaller side and using bare wires might be awkward, so I used banana plugs and they are a joy. I have it hooked to my projector with Tos-Link cable, so our movie sessions have proper impact. I can also play music directly from my laptop over Bluetooth. I also plan to plug my PC through USB some day. I did test the USB interface and it's awesome, playing everything I throw at it, from 44.1 to 192kHz! Such setup leaves me an option to connect a vinyl player through analogue inputs should I desire one day! Sound quality: I am really happy to report that the sound quality does not disappoint. There is plenty of detail, you can really hear those nuances with fingers sliding through the guitar strings etc. With correct speaker placement, the soundstage is wide and vivid, instruments are nicely placed in the space. Pure pleasure! Very importantly, there is absolutely no hiss or any other weird noises from the speakers, so common in many of the other mini amplifiers. Tone controls allow me to to dial down the bass to counter my room acoustics - in result the sound is very pleasant, without coloration. The amplifier really shines at higher volumes - there is enough oomph to shake my room without audible distortion. I am using this amplifier with bookshelf Yamahas NX-E800 speakers (6Ω speakers rated to 60W/110W) and it really gets laud despite speakers not being the most sensitive at 87dB. Included 32V/5A power supply does not seem to be a limiting factor for me at all. Just be sure to check the power table for maximum power with different speakers, as some more demanding loads might need upgraded power supply to reach full potential. Summary Overall I am very happy with my purchase. There are a few small things that would make Aiyima D03 an even better product, but none of those is that significant. Where things matter, it already is excellent. A very well deserved ☆☆☆☆☆ stars.

It offers excellent connectivity options, and the built-in DAC is a fantastic bonus, supporting high-res audio even over Bluetooth. It does get a little warm after continuous use for an hour. Its compact size makes it a perfect fit on my desktop table. I'm using it to drive my old Sony bookshelf speakers along with a T5 active subwoofer. The sound quality is outstanding with good stereo separation and imaging. It's truly value for money.

Consigliato.
