Written following detailed research, but always keeps one's attention and with a sensitive approach it is definitely worth reading. Even though you will not have known the characters, by the end of the book you will feel you know them well.

An Authentic Family Experience of London Life
A captivating insight into life in London as experienced by the Smith family during the tumultous times of the 20th century. A social history in itself which is well worth the read.

Fondest memories of my life long friend Peter.
An excellent portrayal of the Smith family of Bedfont in the early years. This book really brought back memories of the era and is beautifully written.

Brilliant capture of the past
Well written, light hearted but with a few glimpses of the dark side of west london in those days,Well worth reading for anyone born in that era, will bring back more than a few memories,,A different world in London back then,Would 'Tug Boat' be lauded in press nowdays? she stood up for herself and others, A stalwart of decency,And the Gem Stone industry would be the poorer without the efforts of Mr Smith and his offspring,Highly Recommended as a glimpse into the past
