Forget Wood Risers...These make the build simpler and enduring
To get three risers in one package to build a 48" wide set of steps was incredible...They are built well and just think in snow bound areas, No wood rot!! No termites!! Just keep up on painting with metal pain every few years and you're set! I used 2 x 6 two on each step impressive and quite majestic. After I stain them I'll come back to add a photo....What are you waiting for? Oh and Yes, ALL my neighbors came by and said they wished they had thought of it.....METAL...and very attractive!

Top quality
Using these to replace old back stairs to our deck. Because we are using Trex for the stair treads, and extra rise was necessary. The treads will be secured to the risers using 2" galvanized carriage bolts.

Good, But Holes Could be Placed Better
Good Product all in all, but holes could be placed better. Especially the most forward screw at the bottom step hole. That board has to be off in order to install the bottom rail anchor screws if you have any over hang on the sides. Even then the mount screw has to be pre-drilled and installed at a serious angle if you're anchoring to a wood surface at the very bottom. If the surface is concrete, you could drill and install it in the anchors in the concrete first. Then you would be okay. I expect 98% of the time, they would be mounted on concrete and work out better, but you're not going to be able to get the furnished screws in the step board leading edge hole because the holes are centered. If the holes were off to the side, you could, but even then it would be at an angle. That said. Use 2 X 12 step boards and you will be okay if you don't feel the need to use that hole.Since I was installing the stairs on a wood surface and using two 2 X 6's I already had Vs One 2 X 12's, I choose to use carriage bolts for the step boards. It turned into a lot of work pre-drilling the steps boards for the carriage bolts, but the end results worked out great.I am very happy with them otherwise and they are very sturdy.

I turned these into a 3 tier plant stand for our sun room. Wife loved it so much she wanted another so I have 2 pairs of these steps. Very heavy duty.

Well built but poorly designed!
Overall the stair stringer is built well, sturdy and lightly powder coated. The design leaves a lot to be desired. It comes with concrete bolts to mount it to a concrete wall and “self-tapping screws” to attach the wood steps to the stringers. The concrete bolts are fine but only work for concrete, so if you need to attach to anything else besides concrete, you will have to buy a different type of bolt. The biggest problem with this design is the way that the steps are supposed to be attached. The screws are supposed to go through the pre-drilled holes in the stringer and Into the step from underneath. This is not possible due to the incredibly limited amount of space under the step. Even with a stubby screwdriver and pre-drilling all of the holes in the steps, there is no way to screw them in without having a specialized screwdriver. The only real solution is to forgo the screws that came with the stringers, purchase lag bolts and bolt through the top of the steps into the stringers. It is painfully obvious that whoever designed this product has never actually turned a screw! So, if you purchase these step stringers, also plan on purchasing all of the proper hardware since the hardware they send is of no use. This product gets three stars due to the fact that the it cannot be used without modification and having to purchase additional hardware that should have been included with the product in the first place!

Better than expected
These risers did the job, for sure. Unexpected (pleasant) surprise that they came with a full complement (40!) of tread mounting screws, but also six herfy expansion bolts to secure the top and bottom into concrete.Better fit and finish than I thought they'd have, and also stronger. High quality at a low price - what's not to like?
