Tone Perfection! (Solved my tone issues for good!)
If you're like me, you're very particular about tone. For me, it is especially overdrive tones. I have been searching for almost a year for a pedal/amp that gets me to that "perfect" tone. These tubes provided that in an amp that I recently purchased off of a whim just to see what would happen. I purchased a Monoprice 15 Watt EL84 powered amplifier secondhand for a good deal. From the first time I turned it on, I was extremely pleased with how it sounds. Really chimey British type tones, but the overdrive wasn't defined enough for me and was very choppy. So, I went searching for a new set of power tubes to put in the amp to see if that could solve the issue. I was hesitant to buy these as I'm sure you are (the reader) as well. These aren't extremely expensive but they aren't the cheapest thing out there. I did my research to see if these would be worth the extra price over Groove Tubes or JJ's. I decided to buy these and boy am I happy with these things. Mullard tubes were often used by many big artists in the '60s and '70s and it's very evident why once you break these things in a bit. Now, these are "replicas" of the real ones but they sound just as good if not better. Here are my overall thoughts; If you're searching for the perfect tone for your 15 watt whatever amp, look no further. You've found the solution to your problem! These things have those warm and buttery cleans, but when you crank up the gain the overdrive is very crisp and holds together perfectly. For reference, I play a lot of Led Zeppelin and these tubes got me about as close to those Jimmy Page tones as I think I'll ever get without dropping a huge amount of cash. Overall I'm very happy with these tubes and I'll be buying a preamp set of Mullards next to replace those when the stock ones go.

Vox is even more chimey!
These things perform. Installed in a Vox AC30 and am absolutely LOVING the new tone. Put them in three years ago now and still going strong. My strat absolutely SINGS through these. The rest of the stable still prefers some other amps... That special place just between clean and breaking...these really bring it out.

THEY ARE DARKER THAN GROOVE TUBES SO FAR
They worked and sounded pretty smooth after warming up while. They seem to be more throaty than trebley and have less head room than the GT EL84 S 4 original tubes but those were getting louder and brighter as one was nearing death. I noticed the volume and tone had risen above the reasonable living room volume I had dialed to and the knobs had not moved. It then blew the fuse. I had a Mullard 12ax7 that I had purchased prior that I installed in V1 as well The amp still sings but smoother and darker ,and basically less Fender sounding with the same control settings. I am curious if they will brighten as they age. Either way they fixed the amp from blowing fuses and for $40 I believe they are worth a spin.

Works just fine
I'm not a tube snob, don't try to chase tubes for the bestest ultimate tone. Bugera V22 combo had loud crackling issues and the tube leds lit up. So chose these sort of randomly, but hey Mullards right? Plugged them, and bear in mind the Bugera has tube technology no bias adjustment needed. Using a PRS SE 22 semi holly, the amp had very satisfying cleans...not to sharp...not too lazy. Switching over to gain channel two set to 12 o-clock, had very rich warm vintage overdrive, backing off the guitar volume very effective at that "clean overdrive" sound. The GOOD feedback poured out easily, but it is semi-hollow guitar. I also put 2 new mullard AX7's in, and the amp is solid and very satisfying to play. Used at band practice, so they sound great "in the mix" too. Cant's speak for other amps, but going by the V22, I would very much recommend these tubes and the seller too.

Matched pair that are actually matched!
Finally I got some satisfaction! I've been going round with tubes for a new combo amp I got (Laney Cub 12R) trying various tubes like Sovtek, GT, and JJ (which I don't like anyway) and none were actually matched. In fact they were so far off I wouldn't run any of them in the amp even temporary. I ordered these Mullards after arguing with myself about pissing away any more money, but I had to have tubes. I am writing this after installing them and re-biasing the amp less than an hour ago and lo and behold they are as close to perfectly matched as I have ever seen. 21.7 mA and 21.4 mA. And the tone is superb. Breakup comes on earlier than some but I dig it. It's a smooth harmonic overdrive And my EQD Crimson Drive sounds better than ever now. I can't even tell you what a relief this is. I don't know if these guys are doing the actual matching on their tubes but it doesn't matter because if not then they're getting them from someone that knows how to match tubes. This seller is my new go to for tubes from now on.

Great tubes make Great Tone
I have had these in my amp before, but I thought Id try another brand when one burnt out after 9yrs. I was wrong, should have bought these to begin with. Decided to try the other brand because of the price and reviews. They are good for rockers with humbuckers, but not for single coils. The Mullards are worth every penny if your into tone. If the tones aren't pleasing to my ears, the tubes have to be changed. These will stay in my amp and I will buy a matched quad set to have as backups. I have been playing for 35yrs so I have had everything you can think of. So take it from an old guy, if your looking for tone, these will do the trick.

Tubes not electrically matched
These mullard el84 tubes are advertised as being matched. Matched means they were tested Through the amount of current they draw and are matched this way. These were not matched. Only product numbers were matched. Good way to RUIN a tube amp

I have a pair of JJ EL84 tubes that started acting funny in my Traynor YGL1, and these Mullard EL84s were a very nice upgrade. I also upgraded the JJ 12ax7 with a Mullard 12AX7 / ECC83 and my amp now has the rich sound I always wished it would have.
