Founding of the Republic [DVD]

I enjoyed the history lesson from the perception and side of China.

i love jackie chan so when i found this on amazon i give it a go to very quickly fine it was on in english which wasnt show on blurb unless your a quick reader or speak Chinese then give it a miss as no way of getting refund for this once you start to watch

There is NO kung-fu in this. Lots of Mao before he became Chairman though. Great if you're looking for a primer on recent Chinese history.

Not bad film fast delivery

It is easy to be spiteful about this film simply because it features three well known Chinese martial artists (Mr. Chan, Mr. Li and Mr. Yen), who appear for maybe a total of 2 minutes in the whole film (if you include Andy Lau it doubles to a mind blowing 4 minutes), but it is nothing more than a smart marketing ploy designed to get people to buy or rent the film.Nothing that hasn't been done in the West before.As a 'Historical Drama' it is somewhat one-sided. But you would expect that, since as the saying goes 'History is written by the victors'. You wouldn't really expect a Chinese made film to depict Chairman Mao as anything other than the charismatic, coalescing force behind 'The Founding of the Republic' (and we know which Republic that is from the start), would you?My suggestion: watch it and make up your own mind.

If you are looking for a great film this is good if you want to know how China came about this tell the story how one of the great men of China came to power this is for you.

I live in the U.S. and I bought this off Amazon.co.uk because it's not available here yet. Despite the fact that it's touted as 'Region Freee' it's not! At least it won't play on any Region A blu-ray player (North America, South America & parts of Asia including Honk Kong, Japan and others).If you live in a Region A country and you have a region-locked blu-ray payer or PS3, save your money!

Good movie based on a piece of history of China.

Well done movie on a part of China's history - just after WW2 ended.

Great period movie

1. Film Inhalt:2. DVD Inhalt:3. Über Jet,Jackie und Donnie1. Über den Film selber kann ich nichts darüber sagen, da ich leider kein Englisch verstehe. Ich kann nur sagen das der Film zwischen 1945-1949 Spielt und das es Krieg zwischen USA oder UDSSR gegen Republic China gibt.2. Die DVD hat nix besondere obwohl das Cover etwas Cool ist. Es gibt aber leider keine Extras mann kann nur Film starten, Kapitel und Ton(5.1 oder 2.0)einstellen. Der Film ist zu 95% auf Chinesisch mit Englischen untertitle, die andere 5% ist normal auf Englisch. Der Film geht ca. 134 Min.3. Ich finde das ist eine Frechheit das die Filmemacher mit den Cover ausdrücken wollten das Jet Li, Jackie Chan und Donnie Yen die Hautrollen besetzten. Das ist leider nicht so denn Jet Li kommt fast am Anfang vor, er salutiert einmal und das wars er hat auch kein Text mann sieht in nur 20-30 Sekunden. Bei Jackie Chan kommt er so Mitte/Ende zum Einsatz(ca. 1 Min.)und hat ein auftritt als Schreiber und sagt 2-3 Sätze das wars auch schon. Bei Donnie Yen kann ich leider nichts sagen ich habe den Mann im Film nicht gesehen, es kann sein das er eine gute Verkleidung hatte und darum ich ihn nicht bemerkt habe. Wer Fan von Jet, Jackie oder Donnie ist kann man den Film zur Sammlung bei fügen. Ansonsten hat der Film nix besonderes an sich!!!!!!!!!!
