What a neat little kit! This dual-grit diamond sharpener from The Bear Essentials is impressively compact, about the size of a credit card – perfect for throwing in a pack or carrying every day. Excellent sharpener that you can use in the field and not have to use spit or oil to use.

Works well. I am able to sharpen my knife easily as long as I don’t wait until it is completely dull. This tool is for a quick sharpening. It is easy to use and carry. The size i small. It is fairly durable. And considering that it is produced in USA, not too expensive

So, first off, I'm not the sharpest sharpener around. As a woman longing to learn more about outdoors stuff, and loving knives, I needed to learn how to sharpen effectively. This little kit makes is SO much easier. If you have bear paws for hands, maybe not so much. But for my petite hands and even more petite skill set, this kit is a game changer.

This kit was precisely what I was looking for. I do long, solo canoe camping trips. During which, I am usually fishing, and eating as much as I can catch. Eventually, my fillet knife starts to get a bit dull. I needed a good kit that I could pack with me, but not add bulk or weight. I knew I wanted credit card sized diamond plates, and leather for stropping. I don’t wear leather belts canoe camping, because they always get wet eventually. This is not an idiot proof sharpening set, it will require some understanding of manual sharpening technique, but it was perfect for keeping a keen edge on my fillet and pocket knife. I even use the 200 grit plate to keep my hatchet touched up. It was definitely more expensive than I thought it should be, and maybe that’s partially explained by the fancy metal tin, and burlap bag, and general non-utility, gift like, presentation. But I found no smaller or lighter option that I knew would keep me shaving hairs off my arm. The 4 grits, in a leather storage wallet, with a raw side for stropping, is perfect, and I expect to be using this for decades. I’ll probably take it traveling with me too, knives in AirB&Bs are always in need of some help. And it only weighs 2oz folks, that’s phenomenal!
