complete starter kit
Excellent kit for the young lady crafter!

Will not make smooth dowels.
Don't make the mistake I did and purchase this item. It is built solid and out of the box I was excited to make some dowels. Although it will cut wood soft or hardwood but don't expect to get a smooth dowel. Very rough and needs sanding to make it smooth losing some of the circumference. Spend the extra money and buy a plate hammer jig or just buy already made dowels.

Came through in the clutch
Bought it for the wood shop thinking we would never use it but would be nice to have and I used it within two days of receiving it. Granddaughter needed a 1/2" size dowel rod for her toy baby crib and all I had was a scrap standard closet rod dowel, like an 1-1/8" dia. Was able to run the big one through this several times to get it down to what she needed. Worked great.

This worked a couple of times. After 10-15 minutes of use, something lost calibration and it began shredding the dowels and leaving them in an unusable condition. I cannot recommend this tool.
