Battery consumption is very low.Bright enough to read through the day.The timer function is something I thought I wouldn't need, but I use it daily when I go for that little nap/chill-out at nights.Worth every penny!

Thus far, there's no downside to this item (unless you don't like occasionally buying batteries). Nice big red LED numbers, easily read during the night. And, so far, the time keeping is spot on.
