When I ordered this shovel, I was expecting something slightly larger and slightly longer. When it arrived, I put it together with some minor disappointment, and wondered how it would hold up. After using for the last few snows, I'd order this again without hesitation. If you live in an area prone to heavy, wet snowfalls, you'll understand what I am about to say. I've used traditional snow shovels for years. When the snow is light and powdery, they're perfect - you can move a lot of snow very quickly. However, when the snow is wet and heavy, those shovels quickly begin to feel as though it is sand or cement being moved instead of snow. This smaller shovel requires more shoveling, but for heavy, wet snow, that's ideal. Your back will thank you. There is another aspect of this shovel that I came to appreciate. Larger shovels can make clearing snow down to the pavement/sidewalk challenging - they tend to catch on uneven surfaces, and the wider surface area of the front of the shovel can make it difficult to cut through packed snow or ice. This shovel has a narrower blade that makes it much easier to cut through packed snow and ice, and for whatever reason, it seems to catch less on uneven surfaces (maybe because it is exposed to fewer surface bumps at any given time). To top it off, this shovel weighs maybe half what the traditional snow shovel weighs. As for how it holds up, so far so good. I've moved a fair amount of snow so far this winter, and see no sign of damage to the shovel blade or handle.

I needed a right size shovel and this is it! Short handled shovel caused me to strain as I was bending low and lifting with my back. The handle as good heft and the scoop seems durable.

Good basic shovel for moving loose material or the neighbor’s cat. I recommend it.

Handle is so light it feels like a toy shovel. Sent it back.
