some useful editorial work
I bought this selection at the same time as the larger Aquinas Selected Writings (Penguin Classics) which has more theology. I reviewed the Penguin also. I have to say I prefer this Oxford selection because the editor has gone to much greater trouble than the Penguin editor in providing helpful editorial links between parts of the densely argued excerpts. The Oxford selection is based on groups of passages and texts which are thematically linked. This makes the task of connecting key ideas in the arguments a bit easier. The Penguin book is based on chronology and groups passages according to when Aquinas wrote them. The latter strategy seems a bit random to me. I think both books would benefit from more editorial commentary. Aquinas wrote a lot and these selections are drops in the ocean, so it would be helpful to have more background and fuller notes on key points developed by Aquinas from classical works such as Aristotle's.

Quality of printing is bad
After reading a few pages, wondered why the printing quality from Oxford University Press was so bad. Some pages were printed in blur especially in first few chapters. It was quite annoying!

This is a great collection of philosophical writings by Thomas Aquinas. Some things I really enjoyed about this collection in particular is that it is arranged in a way that every passage builds on the previous, connecting them, which is magnificent seeing as they are from all his different writing collections, like Summa Theologica, Summa Gentiles, Malo, and so on. Being able to connect one reading from Summa Theologica to the next one from Malo is absolutely brilliant! The translation was also amazing, as it really kept the true essence of Aquinas while still keeping it sensical. I have to say, I was thrilled by this. It is great for introductory theology classes, or if you just have a passion for Aquinas but do not know where to start. It also has an index, notes, and many other helpful resources in the book to help guide your understanding of the reading. Altogether, I would highly recommend it.

The book is a compilation of the most salient philosophical works of Thomas Aquinas. The writings are organised logically so that it is possible to follow the red thread of the philosopher's ideas and how they are influenced.

I know that this is one of the most important books of the 13th century, but.... I missed so much Aristotle when reading it. I'd the feeling he was not seeking the truth. He had his certainty and he was demonstrating it, searching axioms that could take him to the demonstration of a pre-existing theorem - like a good lawer. Not as a good philosopher...
