A benchmark and legendary recording, released ahead of the 100th anniversary of the first public performance of Holst's "The Planets" (September 1918), Deutsche Grammophon presents William Steinberg's 1970 account, described by Gramophone as "highly stimulating" with "very fine playing from the orchestra" inspired by the conductor's charismatic dynamism. "Steinberg creates great excitement in "Jupiter" and elsewhere, and his orchestra is on its toes throughout." - Classic FM

A Total Eclipse of all other Planets
I have a variety of performances of "The Planets" on CD, but this one has been my only LP copy, and it's now 45 years old. Although I have a choice of discs, I always return to this 1971 recording. Somehow I could never bring myself to buy the CD release of Steinberg and the BSO, and those vinyl grooves have many miles of wear on them. So I was very pleased and excited to see this new LP edition, and it does not disappoint! I even pulled my Dynaco A25's out of storage and hooked them up to recreate the listening experience I first enjoyed as a teenager. Thank you so much for this wonderful reissue. I have taken advantage of the download code in order to put my favorite recording of "The Planets" on a flash drive to play in the car. What's old is now new!

Excellent Pressing.
Excellent version! I also have Zubin Mehta's version. I have to say I like William Steinberg's interpretation the best. Good pressing. This one sounds more open. Give it a spin.

Great Album for Classical Music Newbies
I had heard of this composition and decided to buy this version. I do not know that much about classical music but this sounds great! You can tell where John Williams got his inspiration for the Star Wars soundtrack. Very accessible to anyone.

Basic, but well done recording
There are no frills or thrills here. It's a basic recording on a basic record. It sound beautiful and I enjoy this particular symphony's performance here.

This album has beautiful music over a broad range of style. Majestic sounds to calm interludes, it has it all, and it’s very pleasing to listen to.

La mejor elección
Al principio se complica la selección de este tipo de materiales sonoros por la diversidad de arreglos que puedes encontrar pero en definitiva este album tiene la mezcla de intrumentos perfecta.El prodcuto llego en tiempo y forma.

Stay away from this record if you are looking for an audiophile recording
Got what was obviously repackaged record. No download code as stated, and looking through discogs I noticed that a sealed record would have a sticker on the wrapping, which mine did not. While the vinyl is flat and relatively quiet, the recording is absolutely horrible. It sounds like someone is playing a crappy digital master through a tin can. I am a fan of the interpretation after hearing it on Spotify, and if you are as well, I would recommend you stick to a streaming service or CD of this album. The Spotify version actually sounds much better, which is quite disappointing considering the price this company is charging is ridiculous for this god awful press. What’s worse is I can’t return it as I am in North America and this company is charging shipping costs, so I would recommend if you are not in local proximity to this company to not buy from them. Crappy sounding and dirty records from 50 years ago that have badly boosted bass and compressed highs sound better thank this junk. Beware buyers.

Low cyclic boomy noise on all track.
This is the first time i have a DG record wich is so bad.The vibyl is a robust one probably 180g.. so i am quite surprise by the problem it has.MY vinyl has a low cyclic hush sound that permuted the entire recording.. on both side and all track. I taught my turntable was the problem but nope all my other record play fine.Only this one. ITisso bad i cant listento it.Maybe its wrapped. I dont know.
