GIGAMIC Katamino Deluxe - Puzzle Game for one Player

We saw this game in a store initially and my 12 year old really got attached to it. She did not want to leave until she figured out the combination of the puzzle. Seeing this genuine interest, I promised to buy it for her in the near future. When it arrived from Amazon, she was so excited that she spent half the day playing with it.I am really impressed with the quality of this puzzle game. It is made with good quality, solid wood and is extremely sturdy. It looks and feels like a game I would keep for my grandchildren one day. The box it comes in is also made with quality - it's not a cheap, flimsy box that will fall apart - it's a keeper. It also comes with a beautiful (almost card stock quality paper) booklet that is bound by a nice strong metal spiral. This booklet has the instructions for the puzzle game and many variations on how to use, enjoy and play it. The packaging is also sturdy and nice. I'm glad that I purchased this game. My daughter has already gotten many hours of enjoyment out of it, it is educational because it makes you really think about what you are doing in a fund and creative way, and it is made to last so we can keep it in the family for many years to come.I highly recommend it if you enjoy puzzles. You want to talk about teasing your brain!! It really pushes you to use your noodle. We have three girls (8,10 & 13) and they love to try to orchestrate all the different sizes of rectangle with the different amounts of puzzle pieces (from a meer 4 pieces to 12!). Never gets boring!! If you were to get bored there is the challenge of going 3D!It is also such an interesting piece to display on your coffee table. Made of solid wood in varying neutral earth tones (photo on amazon does NOT do it justice) it's a conversation starter. Well worth the money! Will order another one as a gift.

This is nicely polished and wooden. It is very stylish, durable, and well crafted. It's not like those toys that chip and break after you touch it once. I wish I had something as aesthetic like this when I was young. I felt awkward as a child to tinker with obnoxiously bright colored melted plastics. This product on other hand is child-like, but not tacky.Even though there are only twelve pieces, there are many levels in this game to engage you for hours. Try it.

A very nice puzzle and game. First, the good news. The pieces and board are very well made, one thing I found remarkable is that many of the pieces are milled out of a solid piece of wood, rather than being made from blocks or cubes glued together. As a puzzle it is challenging and engaging. I have not played the game version yet so can't comment on that.The puzzle comes with a large bound booklet which is probably 20 pages of heavy stock (or thin cardboard). The first few pages describe the puzzles using just numbers and diagrams. The next page contains a description of the game in English. The entire remainder of the book is a copy of page 2, translated into over 15 languages. I felt the booklet was a waste when I am just going to throw away (or ignore) most of it.The game pieces are standard pentominoes (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentomino), but in the instructions they have invented a new (or misspelled) term "pentaminos". Instead of using the common letter-based notion, they have numbered them 1 to 12. This is not a big deal, but why not use the common terms and notation for these popular puzzle pieces?

The product comes in a nice box, and is made of stained wood. The hand feel is excellent, and I really like solving the puzzles by manipulating the wooden pieces. It comes with hundreds of puzzles to solve; even if it takes you 5-10 minutes to solve each one, it'll take you dozens of hours to solve all of them. And you'll likely forget some of the solutions by the end, so you can go back and solve them again. Highly recommended as a relaxation tool. It's beautiful enough to sit on a coffee table, and very satisfying to handle—great gift for yourself or someone else who likes puzzles.

This puzzle is amazing. I love the beautiful wood pieces and how they feel in my hands. The number of different puzzles available to solve feels endless. Especially since once you solve a puzzle, you may have trouble solving it again! You can't memorize all the solutions and there are so many permutations. We bought a second one as a gift, we love it so much.

Product was in good condition when it arrived. However, after a few uses one of the blocks snapped in two. After closer inspection, it looks like the pieces of the block were glued together instead of being one piece of wood.

Amazing challenges for 'beginners' and 'experts' alike or for anyone who likes a puzzling challenge. Puzzles range from easier to very nearly impossible to solve with something for everyone to tackle.

Pleasant solo puzzle diversion with a good timeless quality to it. Bought it to complement a small board game collection of 11-13 games. The wood blocks are of a moderately soft wood. Blocks are not heavy. if you drop the blocks a few times on hard flooring I notice the edges and corners tend to round off a little and accumulate small bumps and nicks. That’s character developing I guess. Like a patina.

Il faut aimer les casse-têtes pour apprécier ce jeu... Mais dans la famille, tout le monde a voulu essayé ! Entre l'ingénieur en informatique, la petite dernière qui est en 6ème, le papi qui fait toujours fonctionner son cerveau à 100 à l'heure, le banquier qui a tourné les pièces dans tous les sens, la cuisinière entre deux plats, je vous fais grâce du reste !!! Bref, s'abstenir pour les irréductibles réfractaires à la réflexion, à consommer sans modération pour les autres !
