You can use ground flax for an egg substitute in baking, add to oatmeal and other baked goods to add extra nutrition. And also add into smoothies for a boost too. So it is handy to have some in the kitchen on hand. These ones have a nice ground texture and are easy to add to things, flavor is nice too, though I don't just eat them on their own LOL. I just add to things I'm making and enjoy the boost of goodness.Egg substitute is 3T very warm water and 1T flax whisked together for each egg (it will thicken up) But this can be a nice trick for those who don't eat eggs, or can't, or just when you run out of eggs!

I usually like the nutty flavor of flaxseed on my oatmeal, but unfortunately this bag was a bit fishy tasting when I opened it up after about a month in my cupboard. From what I just read, ground flaxseed can go rancid quickly (especially with some of the high temperatures that we've had), so I probably should've stored this in my refrigerator before opening. Sad, as it looked like nice quality organic flaxseed.

So far I have enjoyed added this to my oatmeal and smoothies. . Planning to add to a lactation cookie recipe that calls for it in the next few weeks here as I’m preparing to have my fourth daughter next month. Planning to continue incorporating it into those things for added nutrition expecially during that postpartum time. I also learned from my vegan friend that it is a great egg replacement in recipes so great staple to have on hand for that as well.

I add this to oatmeal for the extra nutrition. I don't find that it dramatically alters the way my oatmeal tastes, which is what I want.It is well ground and nicely packaged.
