Affordable, Great Quality... Love My Hugger!
(Short version below) My old indoor ceiling fan rocked and rolled, creaked, moaned, and hung down low enough to mangle fingers on occasion. After MUCH research and studying reviews, I chose the Minka-Aire Mesa Flush Mount. I am so pleased with my purchase. The fan was easy to install, and it even hooked up to my existing fan wall switch. There’s no light; I didn’t want one, so I’m happy with the current unit. I did add my own glass pull switch, though purely for aesthetics. I know this is an “economy” model, but despite the reasonable cost, the quality of the materials is very solid for this price point. The brushed nickel and silver finish looks nice when you look at it, and blends in when you don’t. See pics, but please don’t mock my sad popcorn ceiling. Oh the shame. The blades are a sturdy, thick mdf; the housing is metal. The fan really blows – I was surprised at the difference between my old fan and this one – the Minka-Aire blows air with strength and speed. Our swamp cooler went out, and so for more than a week, I was utterly dependent on this fan. It was surprising the level of cool this 3-speed unit cranks out. I’m looking forward to using it in the winter to circulate air. But the main reason I bought the adorably k-poppish-sounding Minka-Aire fan is because it is a hugger. Our lovely home with the sad little ceiling was built in 1927. The ceilings are a bit low. Installing this fan bought us an additional 10 inches of headspace (and inches to put fingers). AND it simply works better, blowing air around in greater quantity and higher speeds. My favorite unexpected bonus was the almost total silence of the motor. Another reviewer had a problem with noise; I suggest operator error, and a careful re-install. This is the quietest fan motor I’ve ever had. Combine all that with affordability and what more do you want? Dancing bears? LONG STORY SHORT PROS * affordable * hugger design allows for great ceiling clearance * quality materials * easy installation * excellent fan, three speeds work well * quiet, almost silent motor * hooked up to my wall switch * brushed nickel/silver attractive without being ostentatious; blends in * no light if you like that * name sounds a bit like a k-pop band CONS * basic design, mdf blades (not really a con, but I guess sort of) * no light if you don’t like that (though you can buy one separately) * no actual dancing bears In short, I am totally pleased with this ceiling fan and I highly recommend it. I hope I’ve been helpful!

A fan made by people that appreciate good design
I've probably installed 20 fans in my life over the last 15 years; typically the Home Depot and Lowes brands -- I only picked up this Minka Aire recently because we specifically needed this type/color/style and it is all I could find that matched it. My god, after installing this I have to say that Minka Aire is serious about making nice fans and I'll likely just stick to this brand in the future. Here is a quick-list why I love this brand now: 1. Every plate or connection point is padded with a rubber grommet. There is no connection between the fan/plate/ceiling/etc. that isn't padded with rubber in some way to ensure quiet operation. 2. The mounting plate has a hook that hooks directly to the fan so you can hang the fan while you wire it together. You don't have to UNHOOK the fan when it comes time to screw it to the mount plate, you just push it up flush against the plate and screw it in (while the hook is still engaged) -- not only is this convenient as hell, you never need to 1-hand palm the entire weight of the fan during installation... EVER. 3. All the electrical connections inside the fan are pre-fitted with snap-together male/female connectors. There are no wiring nuts, wire cutters, or twisting copper pairs together... my god, we've entered the 21st century finally and it is wonderful. Got a light kit? Just plug it in. Installing just the control kit with no light kit? Great, just plug it in and screw it in place. 4. The skirt that mounts flush with the ceiling does NOT need to be put on before the fan is wired up. So if you do like I did and forget this piece until the end and think, "DAMN! Now I have to unwire all of this!" you will be so happy when you realize it just slips up and over the face of the fan against the ceiling, no muss, no fuss. So many little touches all come together to create one of the nicest fan install experiences I've ever had. Fan is quiet, doesn't rattle or move and is exactly what we wanted.

Even Installs Successfully in a Manufactured Home
I installed this in the ceiling of a manufactured home which does NOT have the ceiling structure of a frame built home. Fortunately I found a local handy man in my community who is well aware of how to make things designed for frame homes work in manufactured homes, i.e. a trailer. The biggest problem he had was getting the wires that normally would be in the ceiling, go around the rotating mechanism so that it didn't flop against the rotating head. Since he solved that issue, the manufacturer put out an outstanding product which is very reasonably priced. It is quiet as all heck, just like everyone says. It makes sitting in my living room so much more pleasant on days when I don't want to run the AC. I highly recommend this to anyone no matter what type of structure you should live in. UPDATE: May 2, 2023 The switch chain for the fan speed broke a few days ago. I went back to read the reviews to learn if others had this problem and how they addressed it. Well, I worried when one reviewer said it was a pain to fix. I googled the fan and found a video on YouTube showing how the fix could be done by replacing the switch. I followed the directions from the video, ordered a replacement switch (268S6), and removed the old broken switch and installed the replacement in about 30 minutes. My fan is now working just as well as ever. It is still very quiet and unobtrusive in my low ceiling manufactured home.

good fan, easy install
The fan is as represented. It was easy to install (although the directions are kind of brief, better for someone who has ever done any sort of assembly and installation than a beginner). The one thing about it is there is a hum when it is running. I expected silent, but it hums. This is not as loud as having a table fan in the room, so it is an improvement. You can definitely sleep thru it. It is not as loud as white noise.
