Primary Mathematics Grade 3 WORKBOOK SET-3A and 3B Review: This is "it" for us! - Wonderful! We have searched long a hard for a math program that was the right fit for us, and this is it! We tried Saxon first. It was okay, but I felt it was a little rigid and somewhat slow-paced. We did Life of Fred next and although we found it very entertaining, it moved along quickly without requiring enough practice. Right Start was a little too much "re-inventing the wheel" for me. SINGAPORE is perfect for us! Here is what we LOVE about it! *Plenty of instruction in the textbook (although, like another reviewer, we rarely use the textbook at this level, but it's nice to know it's there if you need it). *Just the right amount of practice! The practice problems in the workbooks are set up in fun and interesting ways. Some basic problems, lots of puzzles/games to solve as the problems are solved, and plenty of story-problems to make the math relatable and encourage practice with setting up the problems/seeing how the numbers work. The children get to experience the concepts in a very thorough way, but without feeling like they are wasting time being drilled on the same things over and over again. *Opportunities for self-discovery. These books just make so much sense! For example, when moving from multiplication to division, it has the child solve the "7's" times tables on one side of the sheet, and then the commutative division problems on the opposite side. Although it doesn't say in the workbook to use the times tables they already know to solve the division problems, it is set up in such a way where they can figure it out themselves (and feel all the smarter for doing so)! *Encourages independent learning! As I mentioned before, there are many, many, pages where the children solve a puzzle as they solve their math problems (whether it be answering a riddle, finding a hidden picture, etc.). For us, this means that my children don't normally have to be told when they've made a mistake and how to fix it. They can tell if they've made a mistake because the puzzle isn't making sense... they've colored a block that looks out of place, or the letter doesn't fit into the word properly to answer the riddle. This means they can check their own work, find out what is out of place, and often do so without me having to correct them. *Lots of Reviews! We use the reviews in the workbooks as assessments of how they are doing and what needs work. They actually think the reviews are pretty fun and it gives me an accurate gauge of how they are doing. I know every family/child has different needs, so while I make no claims that this is the answer for everyone, it has certainly been a great fit for us! My kids are learning a lot at a great pace and having fun doing it! One thing to keep in mind... Singapore math is not really aligned with the US grade-levels as you might think. 3A/3B is actually the equivalent of 4th grade math in most public schools. If you find that this is challenging for your 3rd grader, do not despair! Just work on the 2A/2B for awhile and save these for next year! :) Review: Math books - We use these as summer workbooks, our son started 3rd grade ahead.

Wonderful math books
I've used Singapore Math in our homeschool for many years. We love it. It teaches things clearly and gives just the right amount of practice and review. It really helps kids develop good number sense and mental math skills. My oldest plans to major in math now.

Challenging and interesting math workbooks
These books are from the Singapore math curriculum and have challenging problem sets and worksheets to help students maintain or grow their mathematics skills. These books are not activity books that have directions- they truly are workbooks. If you are looking for additional practice for your child this is a quality product!

Great layout
We have been using these workbooks for homeschooling with my 3rd grader. The workbooks have been great. I like the layout and my daughter does too.
