Algebra Essentials Practice Workbook with Answers: Linear & Quadratic Equations, Cross Multiplying, and Systems of Equations: Improve Your Math Fluency Series: Volume 12 : McMullen Ph.D., Chris: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: A good book - Has a good level of difficulty providing a child some significant level of challenge, which once achieved, helps him stimulate the confidence in mathematics. My child who is still in primary school, has now started showing signs of confidence in maths and is able to solve some simple simultaneous equations using the substitution/elimination approach which this book teaches really well. I am so happy I got him this book and I believe his secondary maths studies will be fun. Addendum: Dec 2025 So I came back to add a few more words to my 8 year old review because I believe it is human (ubuntu) to share good things. This book did indeed lay down a solid foundation for my boy's maths. During his n'fives and highers, he went on to achieve grades that even surprised me. Review: Practice makes perfect - The number of exercise, starting with simpler ones first and with examples, help my two kids 10 & 12 to practice solving algerbra equations. The explanations are clear and with examples. The answers do not round to perfect integers, which is good practice for the kids to get used to handling fractions as answers and that not everything in maths rounds to perfect integers.

Good for volume practice but not great at explaining how to...
Lots of examples with answers so good if you want to do a lot of algebra practice. Only thing that lets it down slightly is the layout at the start of each chapter where they explain how to do it and give an example. These explanations are a little cramped and not the easiest to understand, but if you know the basics and just want to do volume then this is a good book for that.

Great book but delivery system needs an overhaul
The book is good and perfect for my level of maths. However, without knocking the door it was simply left on the front step for anyone to steal. I know the man/woman didn't knock as we're all trapped in the house due to Covid 19.

Workbook with answers! :D
This was easy for me to pick up and help decipher with my kids. Maths can be such fun, when it doesn't feel like a chore.

Brilliant
I have 3 daughters in year 7, 8 and 10 and we are all working together through the book. I love McMullens' books as they give a short introduction to each level of difficulty followed by lots of exercises with answers. Repetition works - at least for my girls and saves me many hours looking for worksheets online.
