Loved loved loved
I read a TON of books. All in his new indie/romance genre. I don't review every book--but this one I felt I had to. I LOVED this book. LOved it. Not only is it refreshing to read a standalone (I find myself reading so many series where I have to wait months and months for the next one to come out)...but I loved the story.Very few people find their love when they are 16. Mickey loves Jesse...until he leaves her in the middle of the night...and doesn't look back. She slowly picks up the pieces, and moves on with her life..but always wonders what happened to the love of her life. It wasn't until her 10th HS reunion, she finds out. Shocked to see him there, after walking out of their small Starling, CT town without looking back, he's back. ANd hotter than ever. Now a successful businessman in NYC Mickey finds her lust and attraction to Jesse has not waned one bit. After spending the nightof the reunion with him--where to go from here? Can she trust him again? Do they have a chance? The book follows their journey of rebuiilding what they had...and their individual sad journeys over the last 10 years. Can they make it work again?READ this. Now. If you love a good love story, hot attraction and a quick read....download this. Now. :)

Enjoyed it!
3.5 STARSI am really glad that I pushed through with this one. I was at the halfway point and I was struggling with making that connection with the main characters.Well between the 70-80% point it happened! There was a bit of a twist and some angst that did it for me.This story is a second chance romance. Jesse and Michaela's (Mickey) had that young love that was one of a kind. Jesse's life was filled with physical abuse and with Mickey, he felt calmness and love. They were so sure that they had that forever kind of love. Until one night as Mickey waited for Jesse to return and when he doesn't she searches him out. She finds out the he has left. He has disappeared. Why. What happened? How could he leave her?For 10 years she doesn't get her answers. Then they are reunited at a high school reunion. There was an instant connection. They are both desperate to be with each other. As they rekindle their love they begin to work through the pain and anger. Mickey tries to understand why Jesse left but struggles with some things. Jesse does everything he can to prove how much he loves her and he tries to make up for the pain he caused. But so much has changed. Jesse has established a successful life in NY and Mickey has established her life in Connecticut with her son (fathers not in the picture) and family and friends. Will they be able to make it work?Just when I thought everything was going perfectly, the story took a turn that I didn't expect. It was late in the story so I honestly didn't know if I was going to get a HEA. But....thankfully I did! :)They epilogue was great! I loved where Jesse and Mickey were in their relationship!

shockingly good read
Was very pleased with this purchase. Read this in one afternoon. Loved how involved I felt with the characters. Can't wait for more from this author. Loved the detail. Really really appreciated no cliffhanger. This just makes me angry when the author does this.

lost me
This plot had the makings for a good story. Teen love lost and found as adults. Sounds good. They are young but very much in love. She has a very loving, normal family life. He has an abusive, drunk, step-father. The final beating has him leaving town before the step-dad almost kills him. He just disappears. She only knows that he left her behind. No looking back, no note, no further contact. She is devastated. Can't eat, can't sleep, loses weight, cries for him for years. Her life is over, woe is me. Get it? Her family, mom, dad and big sister, hates him for what he did to her. You do get the picture on this poor child? For the next 10 years she looks for him on every web site, in every mall, every passing car, etc? Life in shambles. Can't love another, can't move on, etc. OK, you get this? Now, 10 years later there is a class reunion and she goes in hopes that he will be there. She has to know if he is still alive, why he left her with no word, etc. Her family is all in a twit that she might run into him and he will break her heart again. WAS IT EVER MENDED? I don't think so. Well, lo and behold he shows up. There he is, a great self that he was when he left. He is gorgeous, broad shouldered, just everything a guy should be except he is a little damaged emotionally but she can get beyond that and heal him.Ok so far. This still makes sense. Now, get this. She finds out that on the night he was nearly killed, he was on his way to her house to get her before leaving town but he is spotted by her 11 years older sister. She takes him to her house and cleans him up, stitches his eye, oh, she is a doctor. Then she takes him to the train station, puts him on a train and tells him to leave town, get on with his life and let her sister move on to better things. He is trash after all and has nothing to offer her.OK, it gets better. FOR 10 years she lets her little sister mourn this guy, see above, and she says nothing except that she wants to tell her what is best for her. She is now finding out that the sister knew the whole story all along and never said anything. Do you think you would be a little pissed off? Maybe want to rip your sister's head off? No, she is too mad to say anything to her so she will just wait until later. A week later, when I quit reading, she still had not approached the sister to rip her head off or let her parents know what the sister did and that HE was not the bad guy and the cause of all her heartache, but the sister was!!! Really? I wanted to rip the sister's head off and I wasn't even in the story. How could she be so calm about all of this? NO spine.Another thing that got on my nerves was it seemed most of the book was her thoughts. She thought everything in great detail. His gorgeous self, his impressive penis, etc. Come on. I just kept thinking, get on with it, let something worthwhile happen I am getting bored. I really have no patience with a heroine that lets her family run her life and her family thinking they know best in every case and try to run said life. Get a backbone. I quit. I figured I was not enjoying this book enough to finish. I did give it two starts, I'm sure there are some that have no problem with a wimpy heroine and obviously some enjoyed it.

memories
What a great story. The author delves into two peoples life's; one who lost her one love and one who lost himself. They come together again after 10 years during a school reunion. I loved the passion her feelings, the loss of oneself and how she learns to move forward even if it was to lose herself, deliberate, and with love. I cried over his abuse, my heart broke for his pain.I know the pain and I know the loss, I lived it many years ago. This was not a boring story, it was telling. I am not sorry I downloaded this book.Thank you for a wonderful story.
