Everything I wanted and more.
I purchased this book based on the other reviews I read and I was not disappointed. I was familiar with creating React apps on a basic level but I have already received so much valuable information from this text. Not only will this book allow you understand how to create your first React app from scratch, but it dives deep into everything behind the scenes. The author, Robin Wieruch, generously unlocks the books content on his website when you email him a receipt of your purchase. This is stated in the book at the start and it proves to be very useful. It offers the most up to date content in the event anything in the book is outdated and he is quick to respond to your request.Aside from the quality content in the book, when viewing the text online, there are astonishing amounts of supplemental articles and information following each section provided by Robin to dive even deeper into the subjects you are learning in each of the many sections. The sections are also broken up into easily digestible sizes, never making you feel overwhelmed. The book is larger in size than one might expect but this is by design. Robin designed it in this way as a means for readers to add notes in the open space. In my opinion, I love this feature. I don't have to try and reference a notebook and match it up to the section I was referring to. Maybe not for everyone but I appreciate the thoughtful attention to detail. If you are seeking to learn React from scratch, or just looking to enhance your skills, I can't recommend this book enough. You do need to have a basic understanding of JavaScript, CSS, and HTML to get started but if you have that, you are in great shape starting this book. Looking forward to picking up his other books in the future.

The Road to React 2023
I ordered this book as I want to learn React. I first saw it online and it seemed to be just what was right for me. I loved the big size format and the way it is broken down in the Table of contents. The code samples and simple sketches are a real help to me as I'm a visual learner therefore text alone doesn't do it for me.I also contacted the auther, Robin to request a PDF version as was mentioned in the hardcopy and next morning when I woke up I had received an email from him explaining exactly how to get the soft copy version.I am really happy with this book and will surely learn from using it and the soft copy and also from the course on the authors website.I cannot recommend it enough.

Excellent teaching method
I'm a backend developer who stopped learning the front-end stack during the jQuery era. Because of that, I was initially concerned about the "heavy" new JavaScript features discussed in this book. However, to my surprise, the author did an incredible job of explaining everything within the project context rather than relying solely on concepts first and then providing hands-on examples. I find this approach to be great for internalizing knowledge without getting bored with concepts.I've already finished half of the book in just a couple of days and feel very comfortable with all the information presented so far. Everything is clear, even the advanced topics.I highly recommend this book!

Comprehensive and easy to follow
I'm new to front-end development but have been in back-end development for years. I haven't read the book yet, but the couple chapters I have read demonstrates the complete authority the author has over the topic. It's already been very helpful and justified the cost. The only downside, if there is one, is the book is rather large which is not typical of software softcover books.

Try Buying a Paper Book for Tech Again!
I know it seems absurd to be buying a paper book to learn tech in 2023, but I did it anyway and I’m really glad I did. This book has been a really excellent hand-holding, step-by-step way to bring me up to speed with something that I really needed. Excellent examples, valuable explanations (and while the English is *just* slightly foreign in its origin - I think the author is German? - the tiny weirdnesses here and there are kind of sweet).Good book. Buy it!

Excellent resource that remains update.
I've really enjoyed the format of this book. One of the main concerns I've had with purchasing web development learning resources previously was that content would quickly become out of date. The author providing access to continual content updates is epic and really displays his passion for teaching and dedication. I was so impressed with the content that I've followed up and purchased the GraphQL content as well.

The Perfect Approach For Me
I do not write reviews. But after going through some Udemy courses and attempting to do some tutorials on YouTube I was at my wits ends with learning React. I'm a old school learner. I like books, taking notes, understanding the concept, and then hitting the keyboard.I find that Robins book checks all the boxes for me to progress in my learning. I like that each concept is thoroughly explained and there are external links for a deeper dive into each concept. My favorite thing about this book is React and its fundamental concepts come first, not some app build like 99% of other tutorials. Working through this book and grasping the core fundamentals has given me the understanding to go back and refactor my own projects from vanilla JS into React. If you want to have someone walk you through how to build an expense tracker or todo list app, but not really teach you React, then this book isn't for you. If you truly want to understand React and its concepts then this book is well worth the money and the time spent going through it.

Great book for React beginners
Also, the book helps clarify a few important concepts common to other JS framework like Angular

Livro bom porém não é muito didático.
O livro contém exemplos incompletos e possui muitos links. Não é muito didático, dá uma noção de como trabalhar com React, mas não serve como um guia de referência.

Quite simply the best resource for learning React
I must say that "The Road to React" is the best textbook on React-style of development that I have come across! I highly recommend for anyone wishing to understand how to build and deploy professional web applications using the React framework.

Ótimo material!
Sou iniciante em React, venho buscando formas de aprender a tecnologia. Tentei outros livros e cursos mas este certamente foi onde me adaptei melhor. Os conceitos sao bem explicados e normalmente exemplificados na prática.
