A Highly Reccomended Read for Mental Health Clinicians Working with Children
This is a wonderful book for mental health clinicians and play therapists to utilize with children who are diagnosed with mental health disorders such as with anxiety, ADHD, depression, etc and also for children with past trauma. What I really love about this book is not only they discuss what each disorder is, and emphasize the importance of the therapist-child relationship and the family relationship, but they also provide a case illustration on each disorder and several creative activities towards the end of each chapter that be used to treat children with a variety of these disorders. The book is also written in layman terms to allow beginning mental health and psychology students such as I, gain a better understanding for each disorder. I highly recommend this book to those working with children!

Great book!
As a therapist this book will help little children understand what’s appropriate and not! Also will help get answers needed when not actually asking the questions!

This amazing book by Clair Mellenthin is a really nice combination ...
This amazing book by Clair Mellenthin is a really nice combination of play therapy information, important focal points, interventions and not just "do this craft," etc, but WHY you're doing it, what to look for and what you might want to process.

Great Therapy Book
This is one of my favorite therapy books. This week alone I flipped through it and found more interventions I previously hadn't seen, and remembered a few I had. It is well-thought-out and inventive in it's approach. I highly recommend it for child and family therapists who see a variety of diagnoses and family difficulties.

Some good ideas but mostly aimed at groups
This was a quick read. While there were some good ideas for a practicing therapist, many of them would only work with a family or a group of children and others required purchasing proprietary games. It said to read it cover to cover but after doing that I didn't think it was necessary. It was a bit disappointing overall.

Just arrived ..content looks great
Looks great. Simple easy to follow instructions for games/tasks organized according to diagnostic criteria. So, if you want to help someone with ADHD, Dysregulation, OCD, Depression, ASD, etc., you go to the section for that diagnostic cohort and find great information and tasks to help them reduce symptoms and improve outcomes. Found it to be a great book (I'm a neuropsychologist/psychologist and my husband training to be a counselor)
