You can feel the difference in quality with this Leviton switch compared to cheaper "contractor grade" options. The toggle has a heavy, solid "thunk" when you flip it, which gives me confidence it will last for decades. It's built to handle 20-amp loads, making it perfect for the garage or kitchen where I’m running heavy appliances.

I use these 20A red switches for controlling outdoor receptacles, mostly on homes in urban style neighborhoods, where it's best to have the outdoor receptacles controlled by switches to prevent electricity theft, red making it easy to distinguish from the other white switches for the lighting.

Put it in for my garbage disposal switch, works and looks perfect.

Nothing says WARNING: ALERT, DANGER, CAUTION like an obvious and intendend sign of emergency red. Although this Leviton 20-Amp, 120/277-Volt, Toggle Single-Pole AC Quiet Switch is actually being used for a 24VAC Fire & Safety EMS module that was built and designed for education and entertainment. The switch flips states with a solid feel and click sound to confirm. The electrical aspects support from low voltage up to a rated 277 volt. The physical switch body is solid with no flex even while installing. The simple design does take up a lot of space in a single gang box, no other junctions could be added. The red color helps identify purpose when it comes to unspoken intention, safety, and caution. Standard installation similar to any light switch with the added value of visual purpose.

Single Product Review: Leviton wall outlets, switches Discussion: I added the Leviton single throw switch so that I could disconnect the pass through circuit without having to unplug it. The stainless Leviton swtich/plug cover made for a clean finished look. I used a red Sharpie to color the "ON" part of the switch, for easy visual indication. Project Summary: I have a temporary solar/PV battery backup project in the garage, and I wanted to use the generated solar power inside the house. Previously has an extension cord running through the door to the garage, but that's not safe for a lot of reasons, so I wired up a couple of electrical boxes, and wired in a cut-out switch. The inside connections are a standard wall outlet, and the outside connection to the inverter is via a twist lock plug, for extra security. Project Recommendations: 1) I looked at a lot of generator inlet receptacles, but most were 20-30 amp, and I don't need that large (standard 15A), so I used a NEMA locking L5-15P instead. 2) As this was going to be a twist lock plug, I wanted to attach the electrical box to a stud if at all possible (vs. using the electrical box which clamps onto dry-wall). The Madison Electric Products boxes were perfect. I used a single gang on the inside box, and for the outside, I used a 2-gang so that I could also fit a cut-off switch. I mounted the 2-gang box rotated 90 degrees to the normal orientation for two reasons: a) I could screw it directly into the horitzontal stud, and b) I could mount the plug on the bottom, and the switch on the top. 3) When it comes to electrical parts, I generally go with Leviton, which I have had great success with. The only item I got that was a different brand was the right angle plug (which Leviton also offers, I just didn't see it when placing the order, otherwise I would have ordered that one instead). Conclusion: All the products listed in the review, and used for this project I am rating 5-stars. Super Heavy Duty Leviton switch. Highly recommended.

Installed this switch in unheated garage which freezes during cold spells. Previous switch would get frost in it. This switch is weather-proof and came through the winter without any problems. A good idea to install in damp locations like sheds and barns as well as garages.

Top quality switches. Perfect for my application since they handle stranded wire nicely.
