I am just over 5’ 8” and bought the longer rope. It’s too long in my opinion. Some reviews said the rope was shorter than advertised and others my height said the longer rope was perfect so I got the longer one. Although I can use it I have to hold the rope further out to my sides or below the grips if I want to keep my arms in a more natural and comfortable position. I have normal length arms so unless you have stubby arms or really long arms just use their recommendation. As for the rope itself. It will kick your butt. I do MMA and skip rope for 3 minute intervals with body weight exercises in between intervals up to 4 intervals usually. There’s no way I could do it with this rope. After 50 reps I was breathing hard. I bought the 1” diameter with sleeve. I put down card board as added protection against abrasion. This rope is an awesome fitness tool. I have 1.5” battle ropes too and I’d say this will tire you even faster. Simple but effective cardio and strength workout.Update: I’m getting used to the longer length. Overall if it was about 6” short I’d say it would be perfect but you can get used to it if it’s just a bit long. Yesterday I did 70 reps followed by a minute rest then 60 reps and kept resting between sets reducing down to 20 reps for my last set. I felt completely exhausted by the end. The only cardio exercises I find comparible are burpees and box jumps. What I like about this is it keeps you honest. You can’t cheat by slowing down your cadence. You have to maintain your pace or you’ll trip up your rope. It is like having a coach push your pace.I don’t use the gloves that come with it. I want my hands to toughen. This rope will do that but not to the point you are getting blisters. You’ll also feel your wrists, grip, and forearms getting stronger.Update after a year:After a few months of using this a few times a week doing ten sets of max reps with one minute rest intervals I was up to 270 reps non stop on my first set. My cardio improved drastically. It’s odd though that when going back to a regular speed rope it didn’t really translate as much as I thought. I do feel it improved my stamina in jui jitsu matches noticeably. I could exert all out effort more often on the mat and my opponents would tire sooner than me. My goal is to work up to 500 reps non stop.

Whoa - great, low-frill way to spike the heart rate
This is a crazily fun, low-overhead exercise tool to fit into your routine. Be patient when you start, as the rope takes a few uses before it gets pliable -- and use the gloves; I'm clumsy and it takes me one or two starts before I can crank out 10-20 jumps in a row. Jam through 15-20 jumps, rest for 20-30 seconds, and repeat.Pros: no-nonsense, durable, convenient to use as part of a multi-exercise routine (between pullups, squats, presses, kettlebells, etc). Great way to add a mix of "weight" into a burst of aerobic exercise between other setsCons: I'm 5'10", and I feel the recommendation (based on 175 cm height and above) is wrong. The long rope feels like it is too long; go with the shorter.

Takes some getting used to
but I think I got it now. Given the weight, for me it's best to jump twice between cycles of the rope. Once I figured that out, this rope has become a great addition to my little home gym. It's a fun bit of cool down after a tough super set for instance, and depending on how I pace myself, it's not too difficult the way it would be if I tried to cycle the rope through every jump. When I used to play drums I would think to myself that jumping rope had to be the perfect warm up for drummers (wrists, calves and cardio), and this rope adds weight to the exercise, which I think is great; little toning of the forearms and shoulders, little focus on the footwork, on timing...all I need now is a band.

That's one serious heavy-rope
Mine just arrived in the mail. Can't comment yet on its stretch or durability. But I'd guess the durability is great. This thing is a tank -- much heavier than I imagined it would be. And it's covered entirely in a protective sheathing, and came with an additional foot of sheathing that I just slipped on to the mid-section. I don't know how long the sheathing will last, but the material seems very strong. And the rope itself is a monster. I've done heavy-rope jumping with weighed handles before, and with ropes that were thicker than standard fast ropes -- both of which provided challenging workouts. But I've never used a rope like this. Just to look at it is enough to see that it will provide an excellent workout. I look forward to getting started. As others have noted the rope is pretty stiff to begin with. I'm expected it to loosen up through use. Will report back...

Great work out
I immediately felt this in my forearms and shoulders. It is a great cardio and strength workout. It is not too heavy for me. My husband is a cross fitter and has to use it longer to feel the strength benefits. He prefers using this for the cardio portion of his workout over his usual speed jump rope. I don't use it as a normal heavy rope since we have one, and it would be too short anyway. However, my 9yo son likes to use it to mimic our workouts and it is not too heavy for this parent and me activity. This is a great and quick workout, especially for cardio only days.

Great workout! You’ll be sweating in minutes!
I’ve never been good at jumping rope, but at 51 years old, it seems like a good time to start. If I’m going to do it, I want to burn as many calories as possible in the quickest amount of time. You’ll do that with this weighted rope!First few attempts got me to 5 consecutive jumps. It takes a time or two to adjust to the weight, but once you get a rhythm, it feels good. The wrapped handles feel great and there’s no need for gloves.Tip: I was jumping on a rubber floor mat, which caused a slight drag/slow down on the rope going under me. I moved to a tile floor, which offers little resistance, so the rope slid under me easier. I went from 5-15 reps on a rubber floor to 50-60 reps on a tile floor in no time! At 50 reps, I noticed I was breathing a lot harder and sweat was flying off me!My only complaint is that it was delivered with a one-inch fray in the rope, which isn’t causing an issue yet. I’m 5’10” and the shorter rope length works perfect.Buy it. You’ll be glad you did.
