About the same as every other short dual-bander
After spending some time with this antenna I decided not to post the VNA charts while tuning. There's already a lot of them in the reviews and you'll notice they're all different. Each installation is different and each installation is going to have a different SWR, so talking down to this antenna because one installation has a bad SWR out of the box doesn't really review this antenna. But, I digress..... The NMO base on this antenna is much better than many name brand antennas. The radiator connection is a gold plated, spring loaded pin. This makes much better connection to the vehicle than the bent tabs other antennas have. There may be some tuning involved, I did have to trim this antenna a bit on my vehicle to bring the 2m SWR into an acceptable range as that's where I operate the most. The 70cm where I operate wasn't great, but wasn't bad either. After spending a few months with this antenna, I found it operates much the same as any short dual bander antenna. The build quality is great and the radiator is tunable, so this antenna can be dialed into the vehicle. Looking at this from the perspective of similar products, this is a great antenna in its class.

Good for the money
I need to set the swr so reception has been just ok. Once i get that done I’ll revisit and up date.

It's plenty of antenna for a small investment
I originally purchased this antenna for gmrs Radio use and to use in the MURS VHF band as well. It came actually a bit long for the 2 m 70 CM ham bands but with a slight amount of trimming it was perfect on both of those bands. When I trimmed it down where would work with gmrs frequencies it lined up there but the VHF side was way too high in frequency or Too Short whichever you would prefer to work on the VHF MURS frequencies. If I had to do it again I would tune the VHF and gmrs would have at least been close. As far as quality it's top shelf it's excellent Construction it fits well it seals well to the roof on the nmo mount and I would easily make this purchase again especially if I was only going to use it for amateur radio.

NO INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS.
No installation instructions. Why it comes with hollow wall anchors, is beyond me? Anyone else lack drywall in their vehicle? Still looking for instructions.

OK if you must use a small antenna, but most whip antennas will out perform it
I have set up a number of radio antennas and the laws of physics apply to them all.. A short antenna like this with a loaded coil base certainly will work. Other designs with a longer whip and different coil designs will work better because they are able to transmit more of the radio signal due to the fact they have fewer RF losses. If your radio is a handheld model and you are using it inside your car this antenna is certainly a step up. If you need a short antenna on your vehicle so you can still get in your garage or you are riding a four wheeler with friends and want to mount this antenna on your ATV it may be just what you need. FM radios are pretty much 'line of sight' so if you can get a fairly clear shot to your buddy or the repeater this may well work fine for you. SWR is going to vary with where you place it on your vehicle, take a little time to find a good location. This antenna is complete but you will need an NMO mount to attach it to.

Performs Well
I have three other antennas that are very similar to this one, so I tested them together. I found that this antenna compares well. Coverage with them is the same. Return loss is acceptable and I noticed very little reflected power. As for how well this antenna will hold up over time, that test is ongoing. Ha! However, I've been using this for several months now and it's held up as well as my other antennas. The construction of it leads me to believe that it will do just fine.I recommend this antenna.

Strong on UHF
Swept it first to check SWR, UHF is very good, in the mid 1s around 430-450 MHz. In the mid 2s on VHF 144-148 MHz, I'll update once I get it on a ground plane and test it there, most of these mobile antennas I have used improve a bit once they have a ground plane.Antenna appears to be well built, quite heavy for its size. Two set screws for the element.

Great 2m/70cm ham antenna.
This is a short about 14" inches long 2m/70cm NMO antenna. Package came in a sturdy box and unmount with a supplied allen key.Stuck the rod in and tighten it down with the set screw and mounted it to one of my spare NMO roof mount for testing. Tested the antenna with a HT (TIDRadio H8 with a Surecom SWR meter)I tested this antenna on channel 16 on MURS, GMRS, 2m national calling frequency and 70cm national calling frequency. All SWR was respectfully low except on the 70cm calling frequency, but yet it was low on GMRS Channel 16 and one of a local GMRS repeater that is about 44 miles from me. Was able to hit the repeater with no issues and voice came in clear with no background noise or static.Antenna has a nice weight to it at the base so my guess it's made from machines brass then chrome plated. The base has a nice oring to seal the mount against dust and moisture.Any cons? Yes, the chrome plating finish seems ok. There is some pitting on the top of the base and around the antenna mount where the rod goes in with the set screw. But this is all cosmetic and doesn't affect performance as you can see in the photo.Overall it's a great budget 2m/70cm antenna that should last. One last thing. Wish it was spring mount so that way you don't have to worry about tree limbs and low head obstacle.
