No longer is oil supposed to be changed after 3000miles (5000KM), many car companies are now recommending oil changes after 10,000 miles or greater. True full synthetic oils are able to protect the engine over these greater distances if, and only if, they have the correct oil filter. After doing a lot of research, it is clear that it is not easy to know what oil filters are good and which ones are not. There are so many brands in the market place. The Mobil1 extended filter stands out from the crowd of filters. The filter is better built than most. All the components are just better quality. If you take it apart it is easy to see that there has been some thought put into the design and build. But equally important, the filter is backed by Mobil and Champion (they build the filter for Mobil) and they guarantee your engine against oil filter caused damage for 20,000miles or one year. These are my first choice in oil filters for our Acura. The car has 200,000miles320,000KM and the engine is still in excellent condition. Regular synthetic oil changes (7500miles) with Mobil1 filters work for our family car. If the filter were to fail and cause a problem, good and reputable companies are going to be on the hook. The filters are more expensive then many, but when you do the research, not many oil filter products are guaranteed to last 20,000miles or even 10,000 miles; these are.
