formatting issues
The Adobe Premiere Pro Classroom in a Book 2024 is a great resource for beginners who are interested in film or video editing. However, the bonus lesson file, which is crucial for beginners, has an error message that is making the lessons more challenging than they should be. Adobe Classroom in a Book 2024 needs to be reformatted for current macOS and Windows browsers. I contacted the tech support number included in the book for help. They were courteous, but after several attempts, I was informed that the lesson file needed to be reformatted and that they would reach out to me once it was done. I have to wait for the new version before I can provide an honest review. Hopefully, it will be available soon.

The project files cannot be downloaded
The book provides instructions to download the project files and footage needed to complete the tutorials. They do not work - error messages for every file. I tried multiple computers and browsers - with fiber internet connection. Useless for me and my students. Not recommended.

Still Going Strong
There are many different video editing programs on the market, but one of the best (and most integrated with other programs from the same manufacturer) is Adobe Premiere Pro. But make no mistake, it is not easy to learn and requires an organized approach to learning. This book, sponsored by Adobe, is one of the best I have found. It is built on years of experience developing an instructional manual, and the publisher has really hit its stride. The book is organized around a series of practical tutorials that lead you through the software, step by step, using files that are downloaded from the publisher’s web site. Years ago, I used to complain that the book didn’t have enough pages because you couldn’t always figure out where a menu or switch was located in the small illustrations. That problem has been obviated because now the book itself is on-line as well as hard copy, and it comes with videos that cover the same material, and are often easier to comprehend. The on-line version also has material not included in the book.Another advantage of the on-line version is that you don’t have to be a juggler. In my first days with Classroom in a Book I had to keep the book on the table next to my computer and go back and forth to do the exercise, but now I keep the book and the exercises open on my computer and just flick back and forth with a couple of strokes. The main reason I use the book is as a reference when I can’t recall how to perform a task that I can’t quite remember and I don’t want to fire up the internet.Adobe keeps adding new facilities to Premiere Pro so you are better off learning with the newest version of this book. In this book, the latest tech covered is text-based editing, but by the time you read this there may be some other new tools available, but if you use this book, it won’t be hard to figure out how to use them. This book won’t tell you how to create a good story or what will sell an audience. You will have to find other guidance for that, or maybe, dig down inside of yourself. For experienced users, there may be less reason to get the latest updated version. Although there have been many improvements in the text, the material about the aforesaid text-based editing is the only really new section. On the other hand I’ve been known to go online and run through the videos in a chapter or two, and find that there was something I’d either missed completely or could do more easily.I’ve tried a few other Premiere Pro manuals but they haven’t been as good for learning as this, so you won’t make a mistake getting this one.

great info in a book that falls apart if you look at it too hard.
The book is a great primer for Premiere Pro! I’ve bought several of these books over the years and it’s my go-to solution to getting comfortable with new software. This book however has got to be the poorest quality I’ve experienced. Not only does the ink smear on some pages, the cover is starting to separate at the spine! I find the value is in the information, not so much the book itself but for $60 bucks??? cmon man, im not even past lesson 5 and this book is already starting to disintegrate.

Not helpful
Sadly, this option won't help any student.Communication with vendors and Amazon is zero to none.Update Jan 24, 2025,A well-known author and trainer who lacks communication skills. I am still waiting for a reply to my question. I added it to my calendar to follow up and also update the review until the greatest trainer answers. It is all about common courtesy and basic business practices.

Reads like a reference manual and NOT like a tutorial book.
The epitome of what you DON'T want in a tutorial book; i.e., one that reads more akin to a reference manual, rather than one lets you learn by doing! I LOVED the first version of this book (by a different author) as THAT version entailed DOING video editing from the very beginning with artistic/other hints from a professional along the way. In contrast, the first four chapters of THIS edition progressed like reading a spec sheet -- just LISTS of -- "this button does this" and "that button does that" -- ; with little actual video editing. I am familiar with previous versions of Premiere Pro so I probably could appreciate a "reference manual" more than a beginner, but this was just painful even for me.
