5 Star 5X-460 Speedloader fits Smith & Wesson 460

Just received these and was surprised by how light they are. But seriously solid, and function flawlessly. I had searched for a speed loader for my 460, but had only seen some plastic-y stuff that was just not good enough for my big girl (no, I won't tell you her name - it's private). So, how to feed her quickly at the range? Then I stumbled across these, quite by accident. Problem solved, as they say. Included with the package was a pamphlet from 5 Star Firearms with some of their other products. Apparently, these loaders can also be ordered in various colors of anodized finishes (for those with a distinct sense of fashion). I'll be getting more. Very pleased.

I read a review stating this speed loader did not work correctly for .454 Casull: I can confirm this product works very well for .45 Schofield, .45 Colt, .454 Casull and .460 S&W Magnum. It is the only speed loader you'll need for your S&W 460V/460VXR revolver, for all the calibers. The fit and finish of the loader is excellent, and it has served well switching between all the above calibers, time after time. The hold on the rounds is solid, and the knob to release rounds is firm and positive, moving between closed and open. 5 Star Firearms do make a two-cylinder bedside block, that includes a speed loader. I contacted 5 Star and they said they planned to list this item also on Amazon in the next few days. If you're interested in getting the block to hold your rounds ready for loading, it makes sense to go for the item that also includes this speed loader, all in one purchase.

Quality seems good, and it functions as advertised. However I personally do not like the design of having to "twist" the retaining lock to release the rounds into the cylinder. I much prefer the type you can 'pull' to release as it is easy to pull the knob than it is to twist the knob, especially when you are trying to twist the speed loader inside of a rotating cylinder.

If you ever need to speedboat a .460, you've made some interesting life decisions, but this is very well made and does that job.

When I got this speed loader, it was the only thing I could find anywhere on the internet. It is also really pricey compared to any other speed loaders out there, but it is by no means overpriced. It is billet aluminum and VERY solid. Works great and feels nice in the hand, now I just have to find a speed loader pouch big enough to hold the two I got full of .460 mag rounds.
