Quality bike lights !
A quality bike light yes you would be pleased with this , a very good bright light / compact /good fixing to to handlebar etc / battery life and charging good . i always use the hyper Flash mode when riding in the daytime and at night the full on mode in the forest on the tracts , you will need to cut off the extra plasticon the fixing to handlebar for a neat and snag free use ( easy cut and then light sandpaper to smooth )only downside = the price but you will be getting a well-made proper bit of kit !

Excellent Brightness and Visibility, Very Fiddly to Attach and Detach
This light is really powerful and perfect for the winter school runs for both my son and I. It's extremely bright even after dark, light stretching way down the street, but I suppose its brightness in lighter conditions is what's most impressive as cheap lights don't make a difference at all.The rubber band fastening that wraps round the handle bars is easy to fix, like a hook and eye however it is very fiddly to attach the light to the band. Fortunately for my son, he can detach the whole thing easily, leaving the light on the rubber band do this is not at issue. However, my light had to be fitted to my basket, so the rubber band feeds through a small hole in the wicker and cannot be easily taken on and off, so I have to battle with the fiddly force needed to reattach the light to the band every time I lock my bike in a public place. I've attached a photo of my light without the band attached, and my son's with, to try and show what I mean. Also pictured is my basket with the band attached to show removal of just the light and not the fixture.I don't find the battery life too great, the red warning light comes on after perhaps 2 days of doing the school run, so 30mins or so - it doesn't tend to last the 5 days of school runs. But I do run it on full beam (there are two brightness settings), and I suppose regular charging is the sacrifice to make for such a bright efficient light.

Brilliant - in all senses
High quality, variable brightness and flashing options. Arrived the day after ordering. On reduced power the battery lasts a long time. Clear white light, and I feel much safer now even in fog or poor conditions. Very impressed how simple it is to charge and mount on handlebars.I'm sure it will last for years, and might buy a spare mount in case i damage this one supplied. Just my ride in the rain today shows it is waterproof too.I've always held CAT EYE products in high regard, and use their rear light plus cycle computer for years now.Highly recommended.

Does the job
I found this light perfect for it's intended purpose. I already had a fixture on my handlebars from the 1100 ampp version so this 1700 volt model slotted into place no problem. It is as one would expect a tad brighter than the 1100 or 800 front lights, but it has a more focused and direct light when compared to both the aforementioned. I found this more beneficial than the Opticube lens technology of both the 800 and 1100. Although as Cat's Eye state this [opticube] offers significantly wider beam and enhanced side visibility, as does the 1700 volt which supposedly has the same technology, I definitely found the 1700 had more directional light; its as if the 1700 pushes out a more focused beam of light through the pitch black darkness on some of my trails. If contemplating between the 1100 or the 1700, the 1100 will do for commuting and some off road trails, whereas the 1700 will cope with any lighting scenarios. Funnily enough, the 1700 did not feel drastically more heavier than the 1100 (both are heavier than most lower quality front lights on the market it has to be said). All in all, £130 plus quid for a bike light isn't cheap, but I don't regret for a second purchasing the 1700 volt light.

Quality you expect
At the price point, you expect it to work well and it does. Very powerful and the battery has never died on me. The price tag is high but you get what you pay for. And the brand is good, and won't just last ni more than 6 months.

OK but not much diference from older light
This was bought as an upgrade from the 1200 volt which I thought had broken but it hadn't. As such I could test the two of them together and see what the diference was. The answer was very little despite the claimed increase in lumens. I am struggling to see much diference although the pattern is slightly different so that might not be helping. The one big diference is the power button. The 1200 has always been a pain to switch with gloves on but that is changed on the 1700 so is much easier to work. The other improvement is the tool free battery swap, if that matters to you. Speaking of battery, this will not get 2 hours on full brightness and neither did the 1200. The tool less change makes it easy to swap batteries though if you do longer rides with full brightness. Size wise it is very slightly longer otherwise pretty much the same size. You don't want to put this on a helmet mount as it's quite bulky and heavy. To sum up, if you have one of the older models like I have, I can't recommend this as an upgrade, keep what you have. Other than the power button and tool less battery there simply isn't a big enough diference. If this seems important to you though or you are just looking for a good bike light then yes, it's not a bad light.

CALIDAD.
BUENA LUZ FRONTAL PARA BICICLETA CON CUATRO MODOS DE LUZ. UNA POTENCIA ADECUADA PARA VER Y DEJARTE VER EN ZONAS SIN ILUMINACION. YO RECOMIENDO PARA VER MEJOR PASAR A LA DE 500.

Calidad y seguridad
