Such an inspiration
This is a great story. Through my own battle with pc for which I am a 5 year 5 month survivor. I have referred to this book for inspiration. It is well written and I was able to read the book in a couple of days. The author is extremely intelligent and his story is that captivating that you don’t want to put it down. Thank you for inspiring all those struck with this awful cancer and anybody else who needs inspiration to endure.

Everyone can profit from reading this book.
This book tells an inspirational story of how the author and his family maintained a positive spirit despite his being diagnosed with severe pancreatic cancer in the prime of life. Upon learning of the diagnosis, they went into battle by garnering all the surgical, medical and social resources possible. When the book ends (May, 2014), they appear to have prevailed against the foe – the author has been cancer-free for several years. The key lesson of the book is the importance of maintaining a positive psychological and spiritual attitude when engaged in this type of battle. This attitude enabled the author to serve as the captain of the medical team, which was facilitated by his being a professionally-trained physiologist. However, even without such formal training, the book shows how beneficial it is for patients to understand their own bodies and minds so they can play a leading role in their treatment program. This book will certainly be of interest to anyone who is fighting a battle with a serious medical condition. But we are all in danger of having to fight such battles sooner or later, and this book can help us understand how a positive attitude and a caring community can play an important role in this process.

This is a great and inspiring book about how to handle a tragic health diagnosis. The author shows how a positive attitude helps both in the chances for healing, the quality of life, as well as the ability of friends and loved ones to be able to give as much help and support as they can. It is always painful to read about ailments, but this book can prepare you for what to expect, and help give you the resources to cope with very difficult problems. It reads like butter, and is a short book, and the simplicity of style and directness makes this book an easier and uplifting experience , which is quite an accomplishment , due to the difficult subject matter. I highly recommend it!

A good story for patients
This is a short, positive true story about some of the rollercoaster ride that can come with a cancer diagnosis. I think it’s better than some other comparable books due to focusing on the emotional side of things rather than statistics. A friend told me “the statistics are only useful when you’re having to make a treatment choice, aside from that they are just distractions.” So good work, keeping the negative portions to a minimum.

It isn't easy to stay positive through so many of the situations ...
Steven Lewis' book certainly gives us a lesson on the benefits of positive thinking when facing life's immense challenges. And with that positive spirit, Steven was able to be acutely aware of the Powers of the Universe also working to help him through his tribulations. It isn't easy to stay positive through so many of the situations we encounter in life, let alone 2 bouts of pancreatic cancer! But this story pointed out to me that there is a higher power that is here to lift us up and bring supportive people into our lives. We can choose to notice it, or not.

A template for approaching life's travails with courage and hope
I found this book to be informative, provocative and inspiring. One could consider the author’s survival as miraculous, but the approach taken to create a circle of positive thinking/energy in the face of adversity, when so many others are trapped in negativity under similar circumstances, clearly contributed to the terrific outcome. It is a story of hope and triumph over the odds, and perhaps most importantly, a guidebook for those seeking to approach all sorts of life’s challenges, related or not to health and wellness. Highly recommended.

A Powerful Message
This book is pure inspiration. Although the author's own struggle was dealing with a life-threatening and minimally-survivable cancer, his message is a balm to any of us who may be experiencing serious difficulty in our lives. Cognitive therapy, and in this case "turning lemons into lemonade", is a proven method for dealing with the arrows that life slings at us. This is a book that can be read and reread whenever any of us require that "boost" to help us cope. Bravo!
