KBS Coatings 52000 Cycle Tank Sealer Kit, Complete Kit - Seals Up To 5 Gallon Tank, Lightly Pigmented Silver

This stuff is great. I used it on a '75 Honda XR75 tank that was quite rusty inside. To the point of rust flakes coming loose and clogging the petcock, fuel lines and carburetor. Before this, I tried many different cleaning techniques to get rid of the rust, but to no avail... no matter how much I got out eventually rust would redevelop and clog the system. The key with this (that's not really clear in the instructions) is to use the cleaner several times, filtering it and re-administering it into the tank. I'd pour in the cleaning solution, add about 100 1/4" self-drilling screws, shake the tank back and forth for 10-15 minutes. Then drain, rinse, and inspect the interior with a fiber optic camera. I probably repeated this step 15 times before I could see all the (loose) surface rust was removed from the tank walls. When I was done there was still a fair amount of surface rust, but nothing that was in jeopardy of breaking loose. After that the rest was easy. I will say that I let the "rust blaster" etch the tank for about 2 hours with rotations every 5-10 minutes. I used duct tape over the petcock and gas cap orifices, which worked, but I had to make sure I didn't let either the Cleaning or the Blaster solution sit too long on the duct tape covers or they'd start to leak. I also waxed the painted surfaces of the tank, because I didn't want any of these solutions to damage the paint... I'm not sure that was necessary, but it didn't say anything about that in the instructions and this tank has "cherry" paint. I put a little grease on a petcock bolt and threaded it into the tank hole to prevent this sealer from clogging the threads. It took 2 days to clean, prep, and coat the tank and another 4 days for it to dry. I didn't have any pin holes before or after the cleaning/etching, so I can't comment on how well it would seal those. Now with this epoxy coated interior, I have no fear of future rust issues.

The KBS tank sealer kit is some of the best tank sealer products I have ever used. I totally recommend using this product on small tanks like For motorcycles, etc. it gets you’re hard to get in places and most of the time goes on smooth and looks great. I like what I do to be right and my customers be satisfied this is what makes me like this product? It does a great job.

Works excellent for sealing JustRite five gallon gas cans.

This stuff worked exactly as advertised. I did the gas tank on my 1986 Honda Shadow that the previous owner had let the gas dry out in the tank so it had a lot of rust and dried varnish. I watched a few videos before even ordering the kit and felt like I had a pretty good grasp of what I needed to do for this to be successful. My favorite YT video was Cory on MotorcycleMD, who runs you through EVERY step of the way.The biggest concern I had was that my tank still smelled like gasoline after using the cleaner, so I cleaned it twice more with 5 parts hot water:1 part Simple green, dryed it out, then rinsed with 1 cup of Acetone before moving on to the etching Blast. I also had 1 pound of 1-1/4" wood screws inside the tank the whole time of cleaning and etching. Don't stir the paint for more than 5 minutes before dumping into the tank because it starts to thicken pretty quickly.The 3 days of drying didn't present a problem for me. If you are doing your tank, you should be doing your carbs too. I did my tank first, then the carbs while the tank was off the bike and curing. You can put your bike back together during those 3 days, you just can't put gas in the tank. I've got about 500 miles on the newly lined tank now and everything still looks perfect inside the tank and the bike runs like a top.I'm going to do my 92 Yamaha VMax next and the only thing I'm going do differently is to pre-clean the tank better before starting with the KBS cleaner.

This stuff worked amazing for me. I can’t say how the sealer works because I chose not to seal my motorcycle tank. I used the degreaser and the acid etch. The acid etch solution totally cleaned any rust that was in the tank. I used sheet metal screws with the acid etch solution and was AMAZED at the outcome.

Ya know, nowadays most products claim they’re amazing and under deliver. The kbs tank treatment works great. Commit to the directions and commit to the allotted time recommendations.Use the cleaner like they say. I went back and used it a few more times to clean the tank. It’s best to dump it back into a tub. The second step should be done outside with a mask. It’s a pretty strong chemical. Works great.During the second process make sure ya flip the tank around every 5 minutes. When ya rinse it out you’ll see surface rust. Don’t be afraid. It’s normal.The sealer is the final step. Just make sure the tank is dry. The amount they give you for a motorcycle tank is perfect. I did a big Ducati tank and had a good amount left over.Make sure ya drain your tank after you’ve made sure ya had full coverage.This stuff is bulletproof when it cures. I’m so glad I chose this over all the others out there.

Good product, saved an old gas tank, has held all winter..... so far.
