A wonderfully engaging video game historical record
Granted, the subject matter may be considered niche, but anyone with even a passing interest in the myriad of peripherals for the Game Boy and the old wild west of gaming concepts during that time will enjoy this book. I love that I can open to a random page and immediately be engrossed in whatever item is on display. Baxter's incredible knowledge, passion, and enthusiasm can be felt throughout.

Thoroughly interesting read about the overlooked side of the Game Boy family!
As an avid Game Boy geek, I was thrilled to read all about the officially-released add-ons I knew well, and the wacky ones that the Japanese could purchase. Not a dull book in the slightest, it’s written well by someone who obviously knows their stuff (and they do, they’ve got these peripherals working on their GBE+ emulator) and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to any other GB fans. There are photographs or each peripheral and screenshots of the associated games; in black and white, but they’re all very clear and very detailed. I wouldn’t expect a full-colour book for less than £16, so I’m not complaining in the slightest, I would simply Google the add-ons I was interested in if I was that desperate to see them in colour.I look forward to Daniel’s next book. Great job!

I'm so glad this stuff is physically published!
I'm so glad this stuff is physically published! And ON MY SHELF! :D This sorta stuff often falls by the wayside and to see something like the pocket sonar enshrined in ink honestly makes me a little emotional. If you're at all interested in dorky game stuff, this is the book for you. This is meticulously researched by the guy who emulated things you never thought you'd see emulated (cough cough check out his blog Edge of Emulation) and it is a real treasure trove of info on all the funky shapes they managed to fit into a GB/C/A slot.

Absolutely fantastic book! Any Nintendo fans should give it a read!
Absolutely 10/10, if you’re familiar with shonumi, the GBE development, he’s the mastermind behind this book.Great write ups on basically every official *thing* for the gameboy/advanceBe it bespoke one off accessories or special cartridge mappers only used in 1 game, to a good few “confidential” entries on never released, let alone documented hardware!Research and documentation like this, at this high a level of quality and love for the subject matter deserves to be the forefront of the surrounding community. I sincerely hope whoever reads this gives the book a purchase and read. It’s WELL worth it, and the author definitely deserves it!
