OptiMate O100 SAE USB Charger 2400mA

Compact and easy to store on my motorcycle. Once attached to the Optimate lead it is 'live' - this is easy to see as it lights up - and hence drawing power so you do not leave it connected until needed. The cable (extension) and two adaptors ( Micro and Mini USBs) provided with it are good quality. It will not charge my Samsung Galaxy Ace - but that is the phones design and apart from specific Samsung products almost nothing will charge it.

This is an alternative to the O108 USB charger which comes with a long lead. I'd originally purchased that but as there was no weatherproof cap on the SAE end I decided to return that and purchase this instead. I'd planned to permanently fit the lead to my bike and although I accept that the two SAE ends (battery lead to USB lead) form a good seal that was based on the assumption that I would have them permanently connected - not the case. This can be kept in a pocket (without a metre or so of additional cable) and plugged in when required. Excellent service from Trumpet Tyres, they answered a question very promptly and the item arrived very quickly too.

This works well but must say never actually *needed* to use it. A problem is where to keep it safe and dry on a bike without making it so inaccessible it's easier to manage without the device till you get home. It would be more useful if away touring (haven't done that since getting it) My newer phone last 3 days on standby anyway. And a Drift Ghost second battery is very cheap online and easier to carry in your pocket.

Easy to plug in to your (already pre-installed) SAE socket. Connected to the bar-risers on the motorcycle, is small enough to not get in the way of any equipment already on the bike and the supplied connectors are a welcome addition (mini and micro USB cables as well as an extension cable). Good sealing on the cable connections makes the device water resistant although a massive downpour may get the better of it. I use an iphone 5s (lightning port) with the ultimate add-ons hard case for maps and navigation when needed and the supplied cables do not fit through the gap in the case as I had hoped to just be able to use a micro usb to lightning port converter. I have had to use a standard lightning port cable and fit a small piece of rubber tubing around the usb end so it forms a seal with the female port and wont let water in. A little bit of a botch job but it seems to do the trick. Overall a lovely and easy to use piece of kit, I just wish apple would conform to standard an use micro usb like everyone else out there... oh well, cant have it both ways!

I already had an Optimate battery charger cable on my bike for normal battery charging/maintenance so using it to charge my phone using this little device plugged into it is so simple its a no brainer! A great bit of kit...

I only recived the USB - SAE adapter non of the advertised cables were included in the delivered pack, disappointed going to return if I don't get a positive response

Does the job as intended. Most of the connectors are fine, however the Micro-USB connector is of poor quality and is very flimsy.
