Took some getting used to but works fine.
I bought two of these to use after hip surgery when I was trying to move around. Ice packs are great for when you're stationary but not for you're moving, and the postop instructions were quite insistent about the need to keep moving (however difficult and painful it might be). So for me, these were important. I did have some trouble getting them to stay in place at first but I think that was just me. I did spend some time wrestling with the Velcro, which likes to stick to stuff you don't want it to stick to, but I'm not going to take off stars for what is a general problem with Velcro. I think these are pretty much a necessity after hip surgery. They came in handy in the early days. I don't need them now but I am glad I had them when I did need them.

Room for Improvement
The design has flaws and doesn’t stay put as the straps don’t hold it in place well enough. I had a total right hip replacement and icing was recommended to reduce swelling and inflammation around the incision site. As long as one lies fairly still on their opposite side the product offers fairly good coverage … better than an ice bag or two.

Last at least 30 minutes and fits perfect to my right or left hip....
Don't listen to other when they suggest an ICE machine over ice packs. The whole idea is to put ice on and only for a 20-30 minute time then MOVE! You cannot reduce swelling just laying around with cold packs or ice. It takes Ice, Anti-inflamitory drugs and MOVEMENT.....Trust me and what most reputable surgeons will also tell you....Ice Packs before Ice machines.....

The Velcro strap is entangling. Hard to keep straight. Great concept but for some reason doesn’t work well.

Perfect but buy two
Just had a hip replacement. This works perfect. I actually ordered another one so I can rotate them out and always have a frozen one. They are flexible and can hold in place if you move around. I almost forget I have it on.

Good product, could be colder on top half
good product, could be colder on top half. Bought 2 of them for hip replacement, large enough to fit around most of hip (supplemented with flat pack under butt). However the top half of the pack loses cold much more quickly than the bottom - suggest putting much more of the cooler material in the top!
