I read the reviews and got this to see if it's as good as the regular refills and found it to be so much better. It lasts at least a month with 2 kitties scooping 1x day, where regular refills last maybe 2 weeks. You can also fit more into the bag because it is more giving and expandable than regular. Also, one review said the litter doesn't slide down like regular refills and that has not been my experience.

Spoiler alert - these work just as great as the normal bags!! I was hesitant that it would break down while in the litter genie, and while it is made of a different material (after all it’s compostable in the landfill), I’ve had ZERO issues and have not had to treat these differently than the other bags. I have two cats and change the bag about every 2-3 weeks and the refill still lasted 4 months as advertised. It even has a black line towards the end of the roll to let me know when it was getting low (similar to the lines on receipt paper). HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Plus you keep a little more plastic out of landfill, win-win!

Bag tends to split along the length of the plastic. Even when not damaged, the smell tends to pass through the material, unlike the normal bags. Liked the idea, but the execution leaves much to desire.

The only complaint I have is that the bag rips a little easier than the normal refills but unless you plan on sticking your nails through to puncture or your pet has sharp poop they work really well. And they still trap the stinky smell.

I tried this because it’s more eco-friendly, but it’s not as sturdy or as good at holding in odor as the original. I’ve found that I have to be careful while knotting the bag or it will rip. Also, if you let used litter sit in these for more than a couple of days, it will smell horribly! We thought something was seriously wrong with our cat until we figured out it was the litter genie. This was not an issue with the original bags, which we’d change out weekly.

I've been waiting for this company to make an earth friendly bag. They said they were working on it and you know how that goes. I was so happy to see they finally did make one. These refills are just as sturdy as the original. No smell and no tearing when you take the filled bag out. The bonus is I know I'm helping to keep plastic out of our landfills.

This has been the easiest way to get my 12 year old to help keep the litter box clean. Love how easy they are to use and keep my house smelling like the cat doesn’t even use the litter box.

I generally prefer to use more environmentally friendly products when their performance is equal to less eco-friendly items. These Litter Genie compostable refill bags bags seem to be.They do feel different and much more lightweight than the standard blue plastic litter Genie refill bags, however, they do still hold a good amount of discarded liter. The refill holder itself is the same size and shape as the regular ones and inserts into the pail the same way. While these compostable bags don't contain the same odor control technology that Litter Genie claims is in the regular plastic ones, I haven't noticed any difference in odor levels in the litter room. As long as they are strong enough to hold an entire pail of dirty litter and I don't notice an increase in the odor level in my home, I'm happy to keep using them. Well I can't personally verify that these bags break down within 6 months, I do feel better using a compostable/biodegradable product over plastic.

Before I picked up the litter genie I was using compost bags and that worked for my set up because I was able to place the bags on my covered patio and so smell wasn't a problem to me as there was constant airflow on the patio and it was outside of my home. But I moved to a basement and lost the airflow and the bags were getting smelly very quickly. I was conflicted when buying the litter genie because I really prefer being able to place my cats waste in compost rather than adding to the landfill, then came across these compostable bags when the included refill bags ran out. They are super sturdy, absolutely no rips, tears, or weak spots! My only complaint is that the smell permeates a lot quicker then the regular bags but I'm happy to make that tradeoff for a compostable option.Overall very very happy with them and I will definitely be picking a couple to keep on hand.Update Feb 29 2024:I purchased this roll on Dec 22 2023 and just now finished the roll. It claims to last 4 months for 1 cat and I have 2, so I would say its spot on!

Very disappointed. Now I can see it does say it somewhere in the description but it really wasn't that obvious 🤦🏻‍♀️
