Best price around
Had this installed by a professional but it seemed fairly straight forward. It takes up under half a double under counter cupboard but can’t have a shelf as well. We had to cut the bottom out of the cupboard so it sits on the floor as there wasn’t enough room with the sink. It seems to work really well, we don’t get through much salt (3 persons) half a large bag in 2/3 months. Totally silent. Hadn’t needed one before but moved in to a hard water area and in only a few months the limescale was already corroding taps and appliances. The water feels much smoother, no white water marks and I am reassured I am protecting my appliances. This was the cheapest price around for this style. Very impressed would get one again if we moved in to a hard water area

5 visits of engineer and after a replacement unit still not working as it should. ! !
The softener works but not as it should after three visit of the engineer, The soft water only lasts a few days and then becomes harder once again. Customer service is good and the engineer is polite and seems competent. Nevertheless four months after purchasing this item it is still not functioning correctly. The engineer is once again visiting on the 20th of April 2022 when the internal resin container is going to be changed. If this does not fix the problem, i’ll be elevating the matter to Amazon and request a return a refund of the defective item. All in all not terribly impressed.June 2022 - The softener was returned to Amazon and a replacement shipped. Installation was inspected and approved by Dean Who is the BWT engineer now on his fifth visit to my property. This replacement unit worked flawlessly and gave an excess of 2300 L of softened water. After the first regeneration only 1100 L of soft water was used before the hardness progressively returned. I again contacted BWT speaking to Steve the technical director with whom I have been in constant contact and many emails and phone calls for both softeners with the symptoms and readings taken daily over the months to resolve the performance issue. I was given no further information other that a denial that the softener was faulty. Steve suggested fitting a water meter on the output of the softener which I did - to see if excessive water was being used in the house eg leaky wc overflow or float valve. I had already done this with the previous softener and there was no excess water used with around 200 litres use per day which should mean that a regeneration would be after 10-12 dats or so. However after just 5-6 days, the hardness progressively returned. 1.2KG of salt was consumed in the regeneration process. I weighed in the salt before and after to check the consumption. Steve said that 2.5 kg of salt should be used and this Rate of salt consumption was never reached with either softener supplied by Amazon. I was advised that 1.2kg of salt consumed would only produce half the stated capacity of the unit ie 2500 litres. Despite making several adjustments in the unit and adding additional water to the tank. 2.5 kg of salt was never consumed. After the first regeneration in the second unit and testing the unit for five continuous days, Steve suggested adding 2 L of water to the tank And running a manual regeneration. This resulted in catastrophic failure of the unit which remained full of brine and overflowing . The BWT355 was subsequently returned to Amazon for a refund. I will not be buying another unit and I’m looking elsewhere.Note that the settings in the unit can be altered by pressing the up and down button together until 0700 appears then change the number to 0660 then use the enter key To progressively to run through the settings and view parameters and consumption of the unit as advised by both Dean and Steve over the monthsAll of the staff including Steve and Dean in particular at BWT are very impressive friendly and professional. It’s a shame that the product does not meet up to the specifications. I sincerely believe that they are baffled by these findings

Expensive, cheap quality but works
Bad- amazon managed to lose this in the post twice!- the one they eventually delivered was faulty, only knew this once it was plumbed in- for a £500 plus piece of kit, the engineering and quality is very cheap. it looks like it has been made as a science project!- instructions are very poorGood so far- after finally fitting this, the water is soft for now, which feels great (fitted it yesterday)- no sign of limescale - its like magic!- relatively simple to load with salt

Constant call outs of service engineers.
Easy to install, as it replaced a preexisting one. Unfortunately, we've had to have the service engineers out three times in the time we've had it. The first was to repair a manufacturing fault which caused it to leak, the second was to fix another fault which caused it to leak, and the third time was to repair a cracked part, which was leaking from the day after the second repair. All three times the leak has been internal, so was drained away by the overflow, but this soaks the outside of the house with salty water. The fault reporting procedure is straight forward, and you always get through to a person, fairly quickly, and they're always helpful. The three service reps have been friendly and helpful, as well. Which is just as well, as I see them more often than some family members. Luckily, all these faults have been covered by the warranty, which is just as well, because the amount it would have cost to repair would have encouraged me to dump this one and buy a different brand.
