I don't think you can choose, all the ones I got have the gloss on the other end of the tube

The photo shows the applicator side with the color (which is matte). The other side (which is closed in the photo) has another wand with the liquid gloss that you put over the color AFTER it has dried.

I no longer have this product, I purchased it 2 years ago.
