If you listen for the "clicks" of the thermostat cutting in and out, you can time your soldering on the heat up. Sort of like a soldering metronome I suppose.

Only worked once.
I got one good use out of it. Second time, powered up but didn't get hot and gave up for the day. Third time, didn't power up

Good little kit.
Nice kit. Easy to use. Even my Mom said it is a nice iron.

Not reliable
Regardless of settings and display this got way too hot to solder anything cleanly, I sent it back to Amazon who replaced it but encountered the same issue.

Temp doesn’t work correctly
It was good but I don’t think the temp is correct on it but over all it did the job and was great for diy projects

Screen with temperature, on-off, temperature up/down buttons. It should have automatic function that turns it off if you happen to leave it on too long. But no compaints, very good.

I’m not an expert in soldering but I’ve soldered many wires and worked on PCBs with this soldering iron and its pretty good for the cost. The different tips are great as it allows you to work on most jobs comfortably. I use the needle tips for PCB repairs where the soldering points are almost like pinholes. I did notice that the ends of the soldering tips don’t get as hot at the middle does, so if you’re working at a set temperature you might want to increase the temperature on the iron by 10-15% to more accurately reach that temperature at the tip. It comes with some solder wire and flux separate, I do use the flux often but I prefer to use flux core for what I do. The solder sponge is okay but you don’t get a lot so if you plan to work with soldering I would purchase soldering wick and/or a solder plunger to help clean up old solder for replacing small components. I’ve also used this iron to melt plastic in order to re-bond the material. Just be sure to clean the tips frequently. The price isn’t bad and it makes for a pretty good starter kit.

Not worth buying. It wouldnt melt solder.

OK, so unless you solder wires and circuit boards on a very regular basis and you are into some advanced projects, then there's really no need to spend anymore, or buy anything more for general DIY soldering. This kit is impressive for all that you get! For the price of a non-temperature-adjustable bare bones soldering iron from the local hardware store, this lot comes with everything you need, including solder, various sized tips, a little stand and sponge, a few other goodies, and the iron itself is temperature adjustable. Is it as precise and fast as a $200 model? Of course not. Is it good enough for most projects? Absolutely! The question is, how will it hold up? That is to be determined, and I will update my review if I notice any issues. Build quality seems quite good! The stand is a little small and easily tips over. But it has a nice heat proof rubber sleeve that slides over the hot end when not in use which is a nice bonus. Overall, I am quite happy with this little kit!
