Helped prevent scratching and chewing
Used for a patient that is an awful chewer and scratcher. The gloves are a significant deterrent because they are made well. She did chew on these gloves but they held up.

Good but not perfect
These are good but not perfect. My grandma was able to get out of these by pinning her hand under her thigh and pulling her hand out or she puts her hand behind her head then pulls her hand out. These need padding on both sides like the ones at the hospital. She wasn't able to get out of that one. If you have the one that's only padded on one side, you have to block the person using their thigh or head, just use a big thick pillow as a barrier. If they're sleeping on a bed with handrails, these come with straps that you can attach to the handrails to prevent the patient from slipping these gloves off.

what kind of stupid ridiculous gloves are these
we have a 9 year severely autistic child. we bought these hoping to keep her from hitting herself and others. it takes THREE of us to try and push her hand thru the opening and then navigate the most complex system of velcro tape obstacles one could ever attach to gloves. honestly the only way to put these gloves on is if the patient were sound asleep. and even then they can still wriggle their hands out the bottom. if i could i'd demand a full refund AND a letter of apology from the sinister messed up individuals that came up with this glove design!

Just not a good "fit"
First of all, these things are toooo thick. It is really hard to get the hand of an ailing person into the glove because there is just not enough "clearance," especially with a hand that is not stiff like cardboard. It was nearly impossible to get his hand in. The velcro was a nightmare...there was a ton of it and both of the caregivers and I struggled to get the gloves fastened. We must not have done well because he had one off both nights we used them. May work for some folks, but not us.

For those working with folks who need this level of safety support, I can recommend this product. These gloves are the best ones purchased in 5 months and after purchasing numerous sets. Because these gloves are hot to wear in hot weather, I also purchased lightweight gloves with mesh on one side but the person needing the gloves could easily poke fingers through to start pulling hair and scratching so this style purchased is still the best therapeutic and practical glove. It's easier to pull the tops of gloves up, and the loops actually do hold the band in place, the velcro bands are wider, which is much more comfortable for the person wearing them and much more secure. I have developed a technique to quickly slip on, and fasten. Those working with these gloves are always dumbfounded initially on how to attach and close the band. It takes practice. Lots! And there are accomodations based on the size of the wrist or the character of the person wearing them (puzzle: how can I get these off?). I have to tuck the end under the bottom of the velcro band since those handy fabric tabs are also handy for recipient to pull on with their teeth. Time off from gloves is also important, helps hands (warm to wear) and can work on congratulating them on their hard work, encouraging them, and the gloves are on to let their hands "rest". I recommend the purchase of Heavy Duty Mesh Wash Laundry bags for washing since you don't want the velcro to snag on other items being washed. I have soaked them, washed them in the machine and put them in the dryer - all while in these heavy duty laundry bags (which I also purchased from Amazon). These are an improved protective glove for those requiring this support and for those caring for the person requiring this support.

Note: I didn't buy these for medical reasons... Overall pretty good, high quality materials and stitching so I could see this lasting for a long time. There are some things to mention: - The padding is entirely infront of your palms, so you can use the back of your hand to manipulate things if you tried hard enough. - The wrist strap is a bit annoying, the loops get in the way more than they help and you have to tighten the first one pretty far before the velcro sticks. - The included bed straps aren't really useful unless you actually have a hospital bed
